Chapter 1

After Xavier's entrepreneurial failure, I broke up with him.

Years later, when we met again, he achieved great success and was about to be engaged to the daughter of the Xenos Group.

And I showed up at the class reunion in a delivery person's uniform, looking awkward.

Former classmates mocked,

"Why haven't she managed to find a rich man after all these years?"

"This is really miserable."

I forced a bitter smile and remained silent.

Indeed, I was living a miserable life. I had no money, and my health... it was fading away rapidly.

I stood awkwardly at the door of the private room, holding a cake box.

The rain flowed down my damp coat and fell straight to the ground with a clattering sound.

"Who is Ms. Xenos? Here's the cake you ordered."

No one responded.

I looked at a bunch of familiar and unfamiliar faces, took a deep breath, and prepared to ask again loudly.

Unexpectedly, a man with designer clothes all over his body noticed me.

"Hey, are you that... what's your name? Paige or something?

"The one who dumped Xavier!"

Suddenly, everyone turned to look at me.

Perhaps because they saw that I was wearing the delivery person's uniform, I could see doubts, surprises, and even disdain in their eyes.

I never expected to encounter my college classmates whom I had lost touch with for nearly five years on such an occasion.

I struggled to open my mouth, but didn't utter a word.

[Your order is about to time out!]

The sudden notification sound from my phone startled me, causing my heart to skip a beat.

"Sorry! I ordered this cake. You can confirm it on your phone."

Wendy, who was sitting at the far end, stood up with a face full of apology.

I trotted over to her and handed her the cake.

Xavier, who was sitting next to Wendy reached out and took the cake.

"Thanks."

His expression was distant yet polite, as if he was really thanking a strange delivery person.

"Enjoy your meal."

I lowered my eyes, not wanting him to see the emotional fluctuations in them.

As I turned my head, a voice rang out.

"Hey, wait a minute, I remember now, you're Paige Johnson, right?

"If you really are her, considering that we were classmates, we'll definitely give you a good review as a favor.

"Isn't that right, Xavier?"

When I heard my own name, my body froze reflexively.

Xavier didn't respond, and the room fell into an eerie silence.

The only sound was the dripping of water stains from my jacket on the floor.

"Yes, please leave me a good review, thank you."

I muttered without looking back.

Then I ran towards the door as if fleeing.

"Why haven't she managed to find a rich man after all these years?"

"This is really miserable."

"What a waste of such a good appearance. Entertaining guests is more profitable than delivering takeouts, right?"

"What are you talking about? She's a good girl..."

...

However, before I could fully step out of the room, I heard all kinds of mockery and ridicule.

An endless sense of desolation completely engulfed me.

"Enough!"

The moment I closed the door, I heard a furious roar coming from the room.

It wasn't Xavier's voice.

Of course it couldn't be Xavier.

I was already grateful that he didn't join other classmates in mocking me.

After all, I was the first one to distance myself from him when his entrepreneurship failed and owed over two hundred thousand dollars in debt.

Now he had become one of the most outstanding young entrepreneurs and was about to be engaged to Wendy Xenos, the daughter of the Xenos Group.

Being able to maintain a polite and courteous attitude towards me in such an occasion already showed his dignity.
