Chapter 2

“Don't say that. If she was able to reject Aldrich at that time, she must have wanted to climb a higher branch. But it looks like she hasn't climbed it now, huh? Dare I ask where Ms. Rebecca has been working recently?”

After the last sentence, the scene instantly burst into laughter. On the other side, Vivianna then pretended to step forward. She intimately pulled up my arm.

Vivianna said, “Don't say that, guys. Ms. Rebecca doesn't know what's going to happen in the future. There's nothing wrong with not liking someone. Do you have a boyfriend now? Why don't I introduce you to one, Aldrich's drivers are all undergraduate graduates. When the banquet is over, I'll send you a picture to look at.”

With her words, the classmates at the scene instantly understood. They hurriedly rushed to me.

“My family still has a great uncle who is not married, Ms. Rebecca. His looks are good and has all the facial features. Although his salary is not as high as Mr. Aldrich's driver, at least he has land at home, Ms. Rebbecca. So, you won’t starve at all. Can you consider it, Ms. Rebecca?”

“This kind of trash you'd better keep it for your own enjoyment.”

Aldrich, who had been silent for a long time, finally couldn't hold back anymore. He frowned. Then he looked at me with indescribable emotions in his gaze.

“Rebecca, after so many years, you still have such high standards. Since she doesn't need it, don't put a hot face on a cold ass.”

Vivianna's expression flashed with a touch of cynicism. But when she opened her mouth, she still said gently, “It’s my fault. You can blame me, guys. Rebecca doesn't even look down on Aldrich, so the driver is even less able to get into her eyes.”

I ignored the expressions of the crowd at that moment. I directly took my seat and poured myself two glasses of juice.

I was just about to drink it and reply to a cell phone message. Aldrich walked over and sighed softly.

“I know I was too much before, Rebecca. Please, don't punish yourself for my mistakes. If you don't meet the right person in these years, I can take care of you first.”

Aldrich’s words made me pause in my movements. My face was full of astonishment.

I replied briefly, “Take care of me? No need.”

“Rebecca, I know you're stubborn. But it's definitely inconvenient for you to live alone. Even though I'm engaged now, as long as you're willing, I can give you twenty thousand dollars a month for living expenses. We continue to maintain the previous relationship, as long as you don't make trouble like before. The last thing, please, don't let Vivianna know about it. It’s just our secret.”

I murmured in my heart, ‘Twenty thousand dollars? Not even enough for my daughter's pocket money for a week, Aldrich.’

I couldn't help but sneer. I then looked at him inexplicably.

“Aldrich, are you sick now? Your idea is a stupid decision. What makes you so confident? Do you think I'm going to like you again after eight years and starting over? Even like you enough to put down my dignity to be your lover?”

I took a breath for a while. “I have learned enough lessons from my previous life. My mom's death is also my death, Aldrich. I'm already being merciful by not hating you. I have done my best, okay? Don't you think it's ridiculous that you're running over to me now to tell me these things?”

I did love him to death in my previous life. The deeper the love I felt, the stronger the hatred that grew in my heart.

I gave up my dreams to support his career. I also gave up my own life. I was willing to stay home as a housewife with no name. Even a wedding was exchanged for my mom's critical illness. In the end, it became a farce that buried her.

I didn't understand why my boyfriend who I have loved for eight years has become like this. At the wedding site, in front of the screen, he and Vivianna Reverie's bed photo video could be seen by many people.

I was mad at him. I questioned his reason in my heart at that time. But he was cold. He then dragged me to the roof of the building.

Aldrich grabbed me tightly and leapt down from the roof. I knew something at the moment of death. The only person he had hidden in his heart for years was only Vivianna.

This action happened because our wedding day was the day she left this country. Aldrich hated me and my mom. He hated us for ruining his chance to keep Vivianna stay beside him.
