The Dawn of Love Has Arrived
Chapter 2
That time was probably the happiest time of my life.
I used to believe that Mark would love me.
All of this vanished after his childhood sweetheart, Tanya Skinner, appeared.
No one expected that Tanya would study at this college and become Mark's junior after failing the SAT.
Even if I walked with Mark, Tanya would follow us without minding it at all.
She called Mark's name over and over again in a Valley Girl accent as if she was playing with him.
Mark frowned and couldn't help but ask her, "Why did you study here?"
Tanya paused with a smile and looked at me provocatively.
"I'm used to being taken care of by you."
"I can't do without you."
She said word by word. The sun happened to shine on her, and she leisurely displayed her facial features.
"Please take care of me in the future."
"Mark."
Tanya needed Mark's care.
She had been in poor health since she was a child and had congenital heart disease.
So, her family let her do whatever she wanted.
She was a spoiled young lady.
Her parents were happy to know that she and Mark were in the same university.
They even called to ask Mark to take good care of her.
Mark looked at me, feeling a little awkward.
"Mrs. Skinner, I have a girlfriend."
Mark didn't turn on the speaker, so I couldn't hear what Mrs. Skinner said.
I only knew that after the phone call, Mark was silent for a long time.
After that call, Mark no longer mine alone.
I suddenly recalled Tanya's expression when she said "Please take care of me in the future".
That was not a provocation.
She was determined to win.
When I came out of the police station, I was unusually calm.
I thought that I must have been disappointed for a long time.
After all, even a police officer who hadn't known me for a long time could tell how insignificant I was to Mark.
Before leaving, I thanked the police officer.
I thanked him for not letting me bailed out with Tanya so I could know who he really was.
The officer's expression changed, but in the end, he didn't reveal any mocking expression.
I didn't know how I got back.
All I knew was that when I got home, Mark, who said that he would pick me up, was sleeping soundly on the sofa.
As if I had thought of something, I rushed to the bedroom.
As expected, Tanya was sleeping on my bed.
Thinking of the warm bedroom we stayed in with an outsider in it, I was about to be overwhelmed with anger.
I thought I had never been so angry before.
I lost my mind. I raised my hand and was about to slap Tanya to wake her up, but Mark woke up and grabbed my wrist.
He was so strong that I couldn't get rid of him no matter how hard I tried.
"Karla! What are you doing?"
He even asked me what I wanted to do.
I sneered in my heart and felt sad.
I asked him, "Mark, when you took her home and left me alone at the police station, didn't you feel guilty at all?"
Mark looked away for a while. Seeing that Tanya was about to be woken up by the noise, he took me to the living room by my hand.
He frowned slightly and said in an impatient tone.
"Karla, don't mess around."
Looking at how protective he was over Tanya, I felt a sharp pain in my heart.
It turned out that the man who used to ignore other girls because of me would treat me like this for the sake of another girl.
"That's right. It's pointless to ask."
I couldn't help laughing at myself.
"If you feel guilty, you won't be sleeping at this time or be worried that I would wake her up."
After that, I walked into the bedroom again without hesitation.
I didn't want to wake up Tanya, nor did I want to provoke Mark.
I was just disappointed.
I wanted to escape from him so much. I never felt like this before.
As I walked to the bedroom, Mark followed me.
I found the dusty suitcase in the corner, opened the wardrobe decisively, and began to pack up my luggage.
Seeing me like this, Mark frowned.
He glanced at Tanya carefully and tried his best to lower his voice.
"Karla?!"
"How long are you going to make a scene?"
