Chapter 2

Hank's words threw me into the abyss of despair.

"Hank, I'm your sister!"

I sobbed, trying to win even the slightest sympathy from him.

He glanced at me, who was slumped on the ground with a red and swollen face.

"Don't call me that. I only have one sister. Her name is Layla." Ignoring my pleas, he directed the bodyguards to carry me onto the operating table. "Hurry up and tie her hands up. Don't let her struggle."

Looking at my brother's cold eyes, I wondered when things between us had come to this point.

Due to an aircraft accident, I was taken to this world by the system, and it promised me that if I could win all the targets' hearts, it would send me back to the world I truly belonged to.

In this world, I was the adopted daughter of the Peterson family. My parents in this world adopted me after their biological daughter Layla went missing.

After she went missing, the entire Peterson family was plunged into gloom.

My appearance brought new energy to this family.

Hank, who was also the target set by the system, cared for me to the utmost. If anyone dared to bully me, he would definitely retaliate double.

As his favorability towards me increased little by little and reached ninety-nine percent, Layla came back.

At first, Hank was afraid that I would feel unfair and always told me that the whole family would still love me. However, this so-called love turned into hatred.

When I was having class, he would suddenly rush into the classroom and kick me to the ground.

"Why did you associate with your classmates to isolate Layla? The Peterson family gives you everything. How can you be so ungrateful to us and take everything that belongs to Layla in the first place?"

I fell to the ground, looking at Layla in confusion and fear as she was held in Hank's arms. Then, she sneered at me.

From then on, my living nightmare began.

Someone would put thumbtacks on my stool, and I got seriously hurt.

My milk was replaced with paint. I almost ended up in the ICU.

My clothes were always wet as anyone who passed by could spit at me.

All of these devil deeds were tacitly approved by Hank, the king of our school.

And his favorability towards me also dropped to 0.1 percent.

Later, I met Ethan and thought he was the salvation of my life.

He would hold me carefully in his arms and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of my eyes.

He would also wait for three hours in the heavy snow to see me, ending up being sent to the emergency room and almost dying because of hypothermia.

This person who was so nice to me, however, lost his composure the first time he met Layla. He grabbed her bracelet and asked, "Are you Layla?"

Then, Ethan excitedly hugged her in his arms.

On that day, his favorability towards me dropped from 99 percent to 0.1 percent in an instant.

"Dr. Peterson, should we give her anesthesia?"

A reminder from Hank's assistant brought my thoughts back to reality, and I looked at Hank.

He glanced at me with disdain and disgust.

"We don't need to. I just want her to remember this piercing pain so that she can't afford to sully Layla, the purest girl in the world."

I looked at the needle that was almost 1.5 mm in diameter and felt a chill down my spine. I tried to struggle, but my hands and feet were tied.

"Hank, can you please let me go? I'm about to give birth. Can you give me a little more time?"

Hearing my beg, Hank suddenly glared at me. "Child? You mean the bastard in your belly? You are so shameless. This bastard will only dishonor our family."

After saying this, he sped up the preparations at hand.

Just then, an urgent voice came from the door of the operating room.

"Is it not done yet? It's just a bone marrow extraction. Why does it take so long? Layla can't afford to wait any longer."
