My Wife Chose to Help Her First Love, rather than Stay with Me

My body shifted. My chest was aching so much that I couldn't breathe. She actually brought Herbert to the hospital to abort our child.

In the midst of my thoughts, I saw Catherine come out with a somewhat pale face.

The doctor pushed his glasses and said, “Your physical condition is special. Your uterine wall is thin. If you have forced an abortion, it may be difficult to get pregnant again in the future.”

Catherine and Herbert were both wearing masks. They glanced at each other.

Catherine had curved eyebrows and smiled. “It doesn't matter. I am willing to do anything for Herbert!

My fingers were shaking slightly. “Catherine, you know this situation well, but you still want to abort this child, just for the sake of Herbert!”

I bite my lips tightly until the smell of blood spreads in my mouth. When I walked out of the hospital, the sunlight was blinding.

I turned on my cell phone. The first item on the hot search was:

In the picture, my wife and Herbert were clasping their fingers and holding a baby in their arms.

The comment section was full of compliments.

“This is what a talented man and a talented woman look like! Handsome celebrity and a rich woman in the Luxembourg circle are perfect matches!”

“Both of them have children. Why is Mrs. Catherine’s husband still hanging around?”

“I heard that the man disappeared for a few days and got another woman pregnant, so Mrs. Catherine was kind enough not to get a divorce on the spot!”

“Who knows whether he was really missing or just fooling around outside? Maybe he's going outside to mess around!”

My nails were pinched deep into my palms, but I couldn't feel any pain. I turned around and went to the law firm to draft the divorce papers.

When I returned to the villa, the door was closed.

Pushing the door and entering, Herbert and Catherine were sitting on the sofa. The two of them were happily playing with the baby.

“Catherine, is the baby smiling at me?” He laughed and grabbed Catherine's hand to tease the child.

Catherine's face revealed a gentleness I had never seen before. “He really smiled at me.”

I stood at the entrance hall and clenched my fists. Catherine saw me and her face changed slightly.

She walked over quickly and lowered her voice, “Benjamin, Herbert tried to kill himself again today. The doctor said that his depression had worsened. Can you stay away for a while?”

I sneered, “This is my home.”

“He grew up with me, I can't leave him alone.” 

Her tone softened and said to me, “Once things calm down, I will send him and the child out. And let him stay in Hollywood.”

Without another word, I turned and went upstairs. In the bedroom, their laughter could still be heard.

“Oops, the baby is laughing again!” Herbert's voice stabbed at my ears.

It was a scene I had envisioned for a long time. I curled up on my bed, tears soaking my pillow.

Late at night, Catherine gently climbed onto the bed and hugged me from behind. “Benjamin, I'm sorry.” 

Her voice was low, “We'll have more children soon.”

My whole body was stiff.

“Ah--” 

Herbert's scream suddenly came from next door, “Don't touch me! Get away! Could you not touch me? Don't shoot me!”

Catherine bounced up violently. She didn't even have time to wear slippers, so she rushed straight out. All night long, the corridor echoed with her gentle words of comfort.

Early in the morning, I dragged my tired body downstairs. And the aroma of fried eggs wafted from the kitchen.

Catherine stood in front of the stove. Herbert quietly encircled her waist from behind and put his face on her back.

Seeing me, he immediately let go of his grip and spoke cautiously, “Benjamin, I have a bit of a headache. Can you let Catherine take off my bandage?”

Without saying a word, Catherine turned around and went upstairs.
