Illegitimate Son Fights for Inheritance
Chapter 2
"You don't have the right to refuse. He is Evan's son. After Evan died, we have the right to inherit the estate," Tracy declared.
I cursed inwardly at the law that gave illegitimate children equal inheritance rights.
"Evelyn, what's going on?" James suddenly burst in through the door.
"Are you Evan's brother? This is your brother's son," Tracy said as she stood up and placed the child in James' arms.
James, after some initial reluctance, ended up holding the child.
I watched with cold eyes but was actually pondering, "Who came up with this idea? Was it Carl, Carl Morrison's idea?
Tracy and James clearly knew each other.
This company belongs to Carl.
In previous years, due to poor health, Carl had completely handed over the business to Evan to manage.
Carl moved back to recover.
However, I've always held the power of financial decision-making at home. So, how did Evan get the money to support another woman?"
James' words interrupted my thoughts. "Evelyn, maybe I can take Evan's place for the paternity test? The Morrison descendants shouldn't be left adrift."
"How could you?" I pretended to be heartbroken as I looked at him.
"I understand that Evan's death and this unpleasant matter are very sad for you, but if he really is Evan's child..."
"You want to help Evan acknowledge a son? What? Did Evan dream to you that he had an illegitimate son? Or did you already know about this and keep it from me?" I questioned.
"No, how could that be? I was away on a business trip for seven days. How would I know what happened?"
"You want to help Tracy without knowing the specific situation? Moreover, Evan was driving your car when the incident happened. Can you tell me why he chose your car, especially since he had a personal driver available, and moreover, while he was drunk?" I questioned.
"How would I know? That day, there was a problem with the materials at the Gulas City branch office, and Evan asked me to have a check, so I left the car at the company. I really don't know why," James replied, somewhat guilty.
"Maybe he didn't want to bring a driver because he wanted to meet his mistress."
Saying this, he placed the child back in Tracy's arms and asked, "Is he really Evan's son?"
"Of course, Evan promised me a reward of 10 million if I gave birth to a son, but he only gave me 2 million. Today, I'll take the remaining 8 million," Tracy said proudly as she hugged the child.
James' eyes lit up. "Did Evan really say that?"
"Of course, I have evidence," she said as she took out the chat record.
"Evelyn, look, Evan really said this. This child must be my brother's," James said as he held the phone up to my face.
I swatted it away. "If it's his words, then ask him for the money. Just in case you don't know the address, he's at Peacehill Cemetery, row 8, number 18. Go ahead! Don't bother me. I won't help him raise his illegitimate son."
Saying this, I stood up and was about to walk out when James grabbed me.
"Evelyn, these assets also belong to my brother. He can use his own property!"
"Is that so? Do your parents think the same? Do you still have a conscience towards me?" I pretended to be angry.
"But the child is innocent!" James looked pitiful.
"Are you determined to make me acknowledge this child?" I asked James seriously.
At the same time, however, I was secretly pleased thinking, "You brought this upon yourself. Don't blame me for being heartless. It's all because you were greedy."
"Evelyn, don't say such hurtful words. I'm just afraid that he would suffer if left outside," James said awkwardly, smiling.
"Fine, you can go for the test. Henry is here. He is one of the company shareholders, so he can be a witness. You have no objection, right? After all, these days, paternity test reports are not so reliable."
"I have no objection. I'll do whatever you say," James replied, although he didn't understand why I wanted a witness, but seeing me agree, he quickly agreed.
Two hours later, we arrived at the testing center together for the sample collection, and we could get the report in ten days.
After leaving the testing center, Tracy still wanted to sit in my car with the child, but James stopped her.
I thought, "In ten days, you'll have a hard time,"
