His Love is Superior to Everything
Chapter 2
Mabel cursed and hit Gina so hard.
Gina just held her head and dodged awkwardly.
Mia rushed forward, grabbed Mabel's trouser leg, and cried loudly.
"Grandma, don't hit my mom. Please, don't hit her!"
She tried her best to protect Gina.
In the chaos, Mabel slapped Mia a few times.
Mia was knocked to the ground, and her little face was instantly swollen.
I was civilized and never threw a fit. I was delighted to see Mabel beating Gina.
But as a mother, I couldn't bear to see Mia, who was the same age as Eva, get hurt.
I hurried forward to protect Mia and persuaded Mabel to stop.
When I applied the medicine to Mia, the little child gasped but still forced a smile.
"Auntie, it doesn't hurt! Does that make you guys not mad at Mom?"
"Sometimes, my mom doesn't know what she's doing. She's actually a very good person. Look, she even braided my hair today."
I gently stroked her messy and frizzy hair. I couldn't describe how I felt.
After all this, Eva had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
But Mia managed to keep her eyes open and said in a baby voice, "Auntie, if I had a dad, like Uncle Eddy, wouldn't Mom and I be like you and Eva?"
Tears welled up in my eyes and I turned around.
Mia was a posthumous child.
Eddy and I met at the gym. We fell in love at first sight.
We had been dating for three months and felt that we were very compatible in everything, so we got married.
I got pregnant a month after we got married.
At that time, Eddy told me that his brother had passed away, and his sister-in-law was pregnant.
So, he took Gina and Mabel to the city where we lived.
The first time I met Gina, she was not that insane. She just looked at me gloomily from time to time, which made me very uncomfortable.
Even if I took the initiative to share my pregnancy experience with her, she always ignored me with a cold face.
Over time, I distanced her as much as I could.
As our due date approached, Gina had the first inkling that she was going to give birth.
Eddy and I took her to the hospital.
She missed a step going downstairs. I didn't know if she did it on purpose or not.
I stood in front of her and inevitably fell down the stairs.
We were hospitalized together.
On the same day, I gave birth to my daughter, Eva, and she gave birth to Mia.
After being discharged from the hospital, she was depressed and often looked out of the window in a daze, turning a deaf ear to Mia's crying.
Mia was like a pitiful kitten and often cried her eyes out. She slept when she was tired. When she woke up, she cried again and sucked her little hand when she was hungry.
Whenever Eva whined, I heartily hugged her and cheered her up.
As a mother, I couldn't bear to see Gina treat Mia like that.
So I offered to take Mia in and raise her myself.
But as long as I got close to Mia, she would throw things around like an angry lion.
One day, when I came back, I saw her holding Eva in her arms with a loving smile on her face.
On the other side, Mia was crying at the top of her voice.
All of a sudden, my scalp tingled and the hairs on my body stood bolt upright.
I rushed forward to take Eva back and glared at her.
She opened her mouth wide and grinned at me.
That day, regardless of Mabel's dissuasion, I left this house and moved into my other house.
