Contract Marriage: The Magical Love of the Debtor Groom
Chapter 2
After sleeping for two days, I decided to try working as a waiter in a hotel in town.
This job was simple and wouldn’t attract much attention.
The boss interviewed me. He saw that I looked good, and let me start that day.
I had never worked a job before. On my first day, I didn’t expect to face discrimination in such a simple job.
“Hey, Grayson, go to the front. The manager is looking for you,” someone said, giving me a dirty look.
When I went over, the manager was sweating profusely.
Seeing me, he waved me over. “You’re just in time. We have a difficult guest. No one else wants to serve her. It’s up to you. Don’t offend this lady. She’s a rich client.”
I had no choice but to push the door open and ask her what she needed.
The girl on the other side stared at me for a long time.
“Why do you look familiar?”
“You must be mistaken. How could I be someone you know? Miss, what do you need?”
“Is your last name Miller?” She stood up and walked around me, looking me up and down in my uniform.
“I think you are Grayson, right? You were with the Turner family in Evolle City. I once saw you from afar at a banquet with my parents. You were with Miss Turner.”
“You must be mistaken. I’m a local here and have never been to Evolle City,” I said, startled that someone recognized me, but I tried to brush it off.
“Impossible. Grayson was raised in the Turner family. Someone from here couldn’t have such a demeanor.”
“Miss, the manager is calling me. If you don’t need anything else, I’ll take my leave.”
She waved me off, letting me go without any trouble.
Once outside, I went straight to find the guy who tricked me into going there.
“What’s your deal? We’re colleagues. Why did you trick me?”
“You obviously look like a rich kid experiencing society. Why are you pretending and taking our jobs? How much is the boss paying you?”
I couldn’t be bothered to answer and turned to the manager to resign.
Although I didn’t want to, I couldn’t take the risk. If Isla found me, all my efforts would be wasted.
After hiding for a few days, I realized no one was looking for me.
I completely relaxed and decided to go to a nearby city to find work.
I had learned many things at the Turner residence, and Isla was happy to teach me various skills.
I could play golf, ski, race cars, and even drive a speedboat.
In the town, I couldn’t use these skills.
In the city, there were many more opportunities.
I found a job at the largest ski resort in the area and also worked as the manager.
The boss, seeing that I was handsome, was happy to let me accompany the wealthy young ladies.
One day, a group of wealthy young ladies came to the ski resort for a trip. During the day, I was responsible for teaching them to ski.
These girls were indeed eye-catching at the ski resort. It was clear they were from a city. During breaks, many guys approached them for their phone numbers.
“Being young is great.”
“You talk as if you’re old,” said the most striking girl among them. Her long hair was tied up neatly, and she exuded an extraordinary demeanor. Her professional gear easily set her apart from the amateurs renting equipment at the ski resort.
She clearly came from a wealthy family, so I kept a respectful distance.
That evening, the boss personally hosted a banquet and insisted I accompany them, along with a few other handsome guys from the hotel.
Unlike those with ulterior motives, I reluctantly wore my plainest clothes and sat at the end of the banquet table.
During the banquet, the boss urged the guys to propose toasts, and everyone was enthusiastic.
After all, this was a chance to meet various big shots. These girls were obviously wealthy young ladies, young and beautiful. What guy wouldn’t be interested?
One guy even sang a song, and the young ladies applauded and cheered.
When it was my turn to propose a toast, I stood up and said, “Sorry, I don’t drink. I’ll toast you all with water instead.”
The wealthy young ladies, clearly troublemakers, immediately objected when they saw I wasn’t drinking.
“What are you pretending for?” one said, coming over to pull me.
During the scuffle, my collar was pulled down.
“That’s enough,” said the girl who had spoken to me during the day, coming over to shield me and separate the others.
She was clearly their leader, and they immediately backed off.
“Miss Carter likes this type? Don’t worry, we won’t compete.”
“Hey, look at what’s on the back of his neck.”
