Contract Marriage: The Magical Love of the Debtor Groom Chapter 1

My father, in debt, sent me to a rich lady in Evolle City.

I swore to repay the debt and buy my freedom.

After escaping, I lived comfortably in a small town.

I didn’t expect that she would nearly turn Evolle City upside down.

“Ms. Turner’s lover has been found.”

With that shout, I was caught and brought back.

————

It had been over two years since I left Evolle City.

My father owed 500,000 dollars, and I was used to pay off the debt. Eventually, I was given to a rich lady in Evolle City.

Isla Turner was the head of the Turner family in Evolle City, influential and powerful.

I spent five years with her, accompanying her from a young girl to an accomplished scholar.

Although she always called me Grayson, to me, repaying the debt meant I was just a servant of the Turner family.

That year, I earned 2 million dollars from writing novels. After transferring 1.5 million to Isla, I broke my bank card and canceled my phone number.

With a few simple clothes, I seized the opportunity when Isla was arranged for a blind date and left with the remaining 500,000 dollars, gaining my freedom.

I changed my name from Grayson Evans to Dylan Evans.

I hid in a coastal town and opened a guesthouse.

Over the years, business was sometimes good, sometimes bad, but I made a decent profit.

Initially, there were search notices everywhere.

I thought that since I had repaid the money, Isla would mostly miss my companionship and want to ask for clarification. After a while, she would stop searching.

Recently, the search notices from Evolle City gradually subsided.

I guessed that Isla had probably forgotten about me.

I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

I needed to go out, find a job. I couldn’t live off my savings forever.

Besides, I wanted to visit home.

I took a day-and-night train back to my home.

A bit of inquiry led me to my parents’ residence.

They were doing well locally and had a bit of fame, making them easy to find.

People nearby said this family had a capable son who found a good family in Evolle City.

The other party took good care of this family, so local people dared not offend them.

They also received many conveniences.

All five of my brothers had gone to school and found jobs.

My three sisters, on the other hand, married early, and some still lived at home despite being married.

That day, my parents went out shopping, and I pretended to wander around while following them.

Hearing their conversation, I was speechless.

“Where did that brat go? He left the Turner residence. What’s he running around for? Wasting the good backing I found for him.”

“Exactly, Ms. Turner has asked about him several times this year.”

“If I knew where that brat was, I’d tie him up and send him back to the Turner residence immediately.”

“Yeah, look how good the Turner family are. They bought us a house, a car, and even helped our sons find good wives. What more could we ask for?”

My parents hadn’t visited me once in all the years I’d been away from home.

At first, I hoped they would come to see me or use the money they earned to redeem me.

Gradually, I stopped expecting it. They probably had forgotten they even sold a son.

After hiding for two years, I finally found time to visit my parents, only to discover they still remembered me.

They only remembered the me who lived well at the Turner residence

It seemed I couldn’t return to this home.

I took an overnight bus back to the town.
