When Love Faces Adversity
Chapter 2
It was a week later that I saw Harper again.
My friend, Sophia Harris, bought a plane ticket and decided to go back to Verdantia. We made an appointment in a bar.
When we passed Harper in the corridor, Sophia exclaimed and looked Harper up and down.
Harper couldn't hide her panic. But she pretended to be calm after seeing me.
I asked curiously, "Do you know each other?"
"I don't know her." Harper responded quickly and turned her gaze to me, "Why are you here? Why don't you stay at home? Does William know that you are coming to a bar? The cost here is so high. You should learn something good at such a young age. Don't be arrogant even if you have master's degree."
Harper's tone was aggressive. She was scolding me for wasting money.
Sophia smiled and said, "Olivia, is she your relative?"
I didn't take Harper's words to heart and responded, "Well, she is Harper, William's girlfriend. She's pretty, isn't she?"
Sophia nodded. "She's pretty good-looking. She looks a lot like someone I know."
As we were chatting, William came over from the corridor with a few friends.
"Olivia, you're here. Why don't you tell me? Sophia is back too." William put his arm around Harper's waist. "Long time no see, Sophia."
I felt annoyed when I saw the way William stared at Sophia. He started pursuing Sophia in junior high school. Even when Sophia rejected him many times, he still thought that Sophia was just speaking in anger. It was not until Sophia went abroad to study in high school that the matter came to an end.
Sophia said shyly, "I just came back. I missed Olivia so much. I hope I didn't affect Olivia's studies. Don't be angry, Harper. I will pay for the expenses today. I won't let her spend money recklessly. Don't worry."
"What are you talking about? I feel most at ease having you by Olivia's side. How could I let you spend money?" William said as he took out his phone.
My phone vibrated slightly. When I opened it, I saw a transfer of ten thousand dollars from my William.
Harper's eyes drifted to William's phone. Seeing the transfer notification, she couldn't help but frown. "How could they spend so much?"
William ignored her. He felt pleased to be so generous to Sophia, whom he failed to pursue. "You can go play first. If you don't go home, remember to tell Dad."
After saying goodbye to William and the others, Sophia and I returned to her home, where she lived alone.
We washed up, put on a facial mask, lighted up some fragrance, and sat around the coffee table to chat.
Sophia said, "Harper is mean. I think she is not as good as Emily. Emily was so sincere to William, but William didn't cherish her."
I felt sorry for Emily.
She treated William so well and put him first in everything
However, William was a person who was never satisfied. He felt excited to pursue someone who didn't like him. William agreed to be with Emily because Sophia went abroad that year, and William was too sad. He wasted Emily's youth.
Sophia opened Instagram and searched for keywords. "I seem to have seen her somewhere."
