Chapter 2

Lying in bed after eating and drinking, there was still no messages from Louis.

I didn't question him, but calmly clicked on the message from my agent Vivian: [Cathy, the director asked me to confirm carefully that do you really want to give up this movie? This is a great opportunity for you to enter Hollywood. The overall shooting will last no more than two years, and you can let your fiancé come to visit during this period!]

Since I was a child, I have dreamed of walking the red carpet on the screen, and winning an Oscar is my lifelong wish.

But Louis doesn't like me to show up in public, and he doesn't like me to take on any dramas with any sexual content. For this reason, many good roles were rejected by me, and over time, I finally faded out of the screen.

"Cathy, this is a precious opportunity! If you miss it, you may never be able to go to Hollywood in your life!"

"Although the heroine is disfigured, the whole play reflects her spirit, not her appearance! The director has already let someone make a scarred face that looks realistic. It can be said that he has put a lot of effort into it for you!"

Vivian tried to persuade me earnestly, and almost tied me up and took me in front of the director.

In the mirror, the scar on my face is particularly ugly.

"Okay, I'll take this movie."

Vivian jumped up excitedly, "My dear Cathy, you are finally willing to make a comeback. I will send you the script right now!"

"It's worth it that I eat vegetarian food and chant Buddha's name every day to pray for you to change your mind. I will be a vegetarian for a year to fulfill my vow!"

"Cathy, I've already seen the scene when you're holding the Oscar statuette and smiling at me. It's so cool! Ahhhhh!"

After fading from the screen in the past two years, I just took small commercials at most and basically gave up filming completely. Vivian was so upset about this that she even wanted to kill Louis.

Louis didn’t understand that in order to love him, I gave up my dreams, was willing to be his good wife, and regarded him as my whole world.

What he gave me in return was abandoning me in the midst of life and death.

Now, I should regroup and work hard to realize my dream. This is the world that I should pursue.

He broke his promise again today, so I just assumed we had broken up.

As soon as I woke up, I started to read the script.

It is worthy of being a Hollywood script. I was so absorbed in reading it that I forgot to eat and sleep, and was so addicted to the role of the heroine that I couldn't extricate myself.

So I didn't even notice when Louis came home and appeared behind me.

“Cathy!”

His sudden voice startled me.

"When did you come back?"

Thinking of the scar on my face, I became a little panicked. I tried my best to cover it up and didn't dare to look back at him.

"Are you planning to take on another role? No wonder you ignored my calls on purpose!"

Every time when I read the script, Louis's tone was unconsciously filled with contempt and anger.

In order to coax him, I humbly told him that I was just looking at it to satisfy my craving.

Besides, I never ignored his calls on purpose.

He always comes and goes at my beck and call, and answering my phone depends on his mood.

"Yeah, I'm busy as soon as I get up, so how can I have time to look at my phone?"

Every time he leaves me alone, doesn't answer my calls or reply to my messages on purpose, he uses this sentence to shut me up.

I put down my hands, took out my phone that was charging under the script and turned it on in front of him.

"See? I didn't mean to ignore it. It's just that the battery is out."

When I showed him my phone, I inadvertently revealed the bright red scar on my face.

"Why did you put on makeup like this? It's so scary!"

I laughed at myself, thinking he could see it!

"It's not makeup. I haven't got the technology yet."

Hearing the mockery in my tone, Louis moved closer to see it more clearly.

"Cathy, what's wrong with your face..."

"Didn't I tell you that my car is in front of you?"

Louis's face suddenly changed, and he tried to touch my scar with his trembling hands, but I moved away.

"Michelle and I thought you were at the back. We were the last car to fall. I thought you were okay..."

When he said the latter part, he was a little afraid to look at me.

He probably had no idea why I overtook him.

After all, he was busy flirting with Michelle, and with their heads next to each other closely, it was impossible for him to notice that I had overtaken him.

"I was already at the supermarket entrance yesterday, but the two dogs were traumatized by the accident and became severely stressed even at the slightest noise. Michelle couldn't handle it alone, so I broke my promise. You know that Michelle treats those two dogs as her own babies..."

I lifted my eyelids lightly, and Louis couldn't continue.

Don't mention that I can't compare to his first love, but even their two dogs. How ridiculous is that?

He touched his nose guiltily, knowing that it was inappropriate to compare me to dogs.

"No need to explain, I know you are their father."

I have always loved beauty and would never allow myself to have scars. Now half of my face is disfigured, but I am so calm.

The contrast in my attitude made Louis open his mouth slightly, and after a while he said, "Medical technology is very advanced now. I will ask someone to buy you some good scar removal cream. Then you can get some cosmetic surgery and it should be back to normal."

"Don't worry about it. I know what's going on."

Louis looked me over carefully, and after confirming that only my face was injured, he breathed a sigh of relief:

"Cathy, why don't you know what's good for you? You should be thankful that you were only disfigured. So many people died in this accident, and many more are lying in the ICU with broken bones. I was just helping Michelle take care of dogs, and you're picking on me again, aren't you?"

"I appreciate your kindness. I know that you and Michelle are innocent. You are just the father of the two dogs, and Michelle is the mother."

"I understand that your relationship is limited to this, and we won't argue about that again."

After I finished speaking, his phone rang again.

The special ringtone is exclusive to Michelle.

I made a gesture of "go" to him: [It must be the dogs calling you, go for it!]

This was the first time I took the initiative to let him go towards Michelle. Louis answered the phone with great displeasure and slammed the door and left.

The aftershock of the door made my scapula ache faintly.

I faintly heard him scolding me for being a troublemaker again.

Oh, he is so difficult to please.

It’s wrong to be jealous, and it’s also wrong not to be jealous. Anyway, no matter what I do, I’m just being troublemaker.
