When I Broke Up With Him, He Regretted it Endlessly
Chapter 1
It’s been three days since the landslide accident, and Louis still hasn’t thought of me.
Within a minute of commenting, my phone was called by Louis immediately.
"Cathy, don't you have a conscience? Do you know what we've been through? Don't you even watch the news?"
"Is it fun for you to just be jealous every day? Michelle and I are lucky, but one of her dogs broke a bone and the other nearly had a miscarriage! You ignore everything and just put the blame on us. Are you crazy?"
I know that the two dogs were fed together when they were in love, and after they broke up, the two dogs all belonged to Michelle.
In Louis's eyes, my life is even worse than a dog's.
He had witnessed with his own eyes how devastating it was when the explosions went off.
"Louis, my car is right in front of you, you..."
"That's enough! You were just a little frightened. Do you have to play the victim to gain sympathy?"
When the dog was whining, he hung up the phone impatiently and went to take care of it.
He was the one who didn’t watch the news!
The victims of the accident suffered either broken bones or internal injuries.
Why did he think I was just frightened?
Perhaps, he wouldn't notice that even if I were died.
On the fifth day after the accident, I had three steel nails on my scapula and stayed in the hospital for another five days before the doctor agreed to let me go.
It was raining heavily. I had just had surgery and couldn't neither lift heavy objects nor cook. When I was worrying about what to order, Louis finally called me.
"Come home when you've calmed down. I'll buy groceries and cook dinner tonight."
The ten-day silent treatment broke our historical record.
In the past, Louis always acted superior, waiting for me to give in and break the ice.
I will be able to comfort myself in three days at most.
Because I love him so much, I am so humble that I am afraid that if I'm so pretentious, I will lose him forever.
This is the first time I ignored him for ten days and didn’t go home.
I even thought that we had ended quietly.
"Don't bother, I'll just order takeout."
Louis was very unhappy and said impatiently, "Don't be so pretentious! Just wait for me at home."
In his eyes, this is probably a great gift to me.
He is good at cooking, but he seldom takes the initiative to cook for me. If he had said he would cook for me in the past, I'll feel moved and happy.
Unfortunately, when I survived the accident, I already felt that I was committing slow suicide by wasting my energy on love.
He thought of it as a great honor, but I just regarded it as our final farewell meal.
I did eat so much takeout in the hospital these few days. Louis is good at cooking, and I also don’t want to hurt my stomach.
"OK."
After we discuss it, Louis hung up the phone immediately without saying anything more.
He cooked at least five or six dishes. So I simply ate some fruit for lunch and waited for him to come home and cook dinner.
But I waited until late at night and he didn't come back or even call me.
I was starving, so I ordered a takeout.
Because of the heavy rain, the takeaway took an hour to arrive.
I was eating takeout and opened my Moments out of habit.
The latest one is from Michelle.
The pictures all show that Louis taking care of the dog with a broken bone from different angles, with an incredibly gentle expression on his face.
The caption was: "It's hard to imagine how gentle he will be when we have children in the future!"
I was determined to break up.
Michelle was right. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Even God was on her side.
I didn't feel sad at all when I made this decision.
It turns out that the sky won’t fall even if I no longer love someone.
