Wedding Anniversary is My Death Anniversary
Chapter 1
My husband was celebrating the 22nd birthday of his adopted sister when I was cut into a thousand pieces by the murderer.
Unfortunately, today was also our 5th wedding anniversary.
Before I died, the murderer held a dagger to my throat and forced me to call him for help.
He hung up three times in a row before picking up the call impatiently.
The voice was filled with resentment and hatred.
"You've made so many phone calls. Are you in a hurry to die? Even if you die, don't ask me to collect your body!"
But this time, I was really going to die, and there was no body to collect my body.
In the evening, he was called back to the police station because of a brutal murder case. Pieced together the body parts for the whole night. Without realizing that the deceased was his most hated wife.
——
The murderer arrogantly scattered the body parts around the police station.
The on-duty officer searched with the police dogs for five whole hours.
It was not until the early hours of the morning that my husband was urgently called in to participate in the investigation.
Jayden Yeremia was originally celebrating the birthday of his adopted sister, Yasmin Silverlake, but he arrived at the police station ten minutes later.
Without bothering to change his clothes, he opened his mouth to ask about the case.
"A security guard on patrol discovered unidentified body parts and rushed back to call the police. Our team led police dogs to search along the road for five hours and found hundreds of body parts. The forensic doctor is still piecing them together."
Jayden furrowed his brow and quickly changed his clothes to enter work mode upon hearing this.
There was no trace of resentment on his face about having to work overtime.
Seeing him hurrying on his way, with dust on his trouser legs, his colleague said apologetically, "I'm sorry to bother you from spending your anniversary with Karina."
"But this case is too tricky, it wouldn't be possible without you as an investigator genius."
Jayden's eyes quickly flashed with disgust, and he waved his hand in disgust.
"Celebrating the anniversary with that murderer? Don't disgust me. It would be better to catch the murderer as soon as possible."
I forced a bitter smile at the corner of my lips, and bitterness spread on my face.
If he knew that I was the one who died today, he would probably be furious.
Smacking me for wasting his time that should have been celebrating Yasmin's birthday and wasting their human resources.
After all, he had never been willing to acknowledge my identity as his wife, let alone spending our wedding anniversary with me.
After saying that, he pushed the door open and assisted the forensic doctor in piecing together my body.
Until dawn slowly began to appear, the body finally returned to human form.
He came out with the forensic expert. His face was serious.
"The deceased suffered multiple soft tissue contusions, severe skin ulcers and facial disfigurement, making it impossible to identify it based on the facial features."
"All the injuries were inflicted when the deceased was conscious. The murderer's methods were extremely cruel and inhumane. Unless there were any accidents, it must be a revenge killing."
As soon as he finished speaking, his colleague hurriedly responded in disbelief, "Revenge killing? How much hatred does the murderer have to revenge to this extent? Is he a psychopath?"
The atmosphere suddenly became heavy because of this sentence.
After a while, Jayden spoke up, "The murderer's mental state is unknown. If we solve the case one minute late, his danger outside will increase exponentially. We must hurry!"
Although he hated me, I had to admit that he was indeed skilled in criminal investigation.
In order to make me feel extreme pain, the murderer drugged me to keep my mind awake.
I could even feel him slicing through my skin and cutting open my blood vessels one by one.
Ten hours of torture completely destroyed all my will to survive.
Before receiving that phone call, I was still making a cake for my husband by myself.
I wanted to wait for him to get off work, admit my mistake to him, beg him to forgive me and spend our first anniversary with me.
But ultimately, I never got his forgiveness.
Jayden pondered for a moment, took the autopsy report from the forensic doctor, and said coldly, "The victim was missing two fingers, which may be the key to solving the case."
He looked at the detailed photo of the severed finger with a stunned expression.
I was so nervous that my heart almost jumped out of my chest.
Could he find it?
The two missing fingers were wearing the wedding rings he gave me.
Because it was not the right size, I put it on five years ago and could not take it off until the root of my finger was strangled and deformed.
He glanced at it for a while and said sternly, "Do a DNA comparison to confirm the identity as soon as possible. It will take several days for the results to come out. Also, continue to search for the two missing fingers. There must be clues to the murderer on them!"
"Pay close attention to the missing persons reported in the past two days and see if there is anyone who matches the appearance of the deceased. If there is, contact me as soon as possible!"
A bitter smile appeared on my face.
Yeah, he never looked me in the eye, so how could he notice my fingers?
His colleague nodded, turned around and left quickly to send the items for inspection.
Jayden's mobile phone rang at this moment.
