Two Worlds: the Real Me and the Illusory Novel
Chapter 1
Before going to sleep, I was passionately commenting in the review section of the book "CEO's Darling Wife."
Who would have thought that when I woke up, I would travel through time and space, becoming the role of a cannon fodder female character in this book?
I actually became the female protagonist's stepmother.
In the early stages of the story, the stepmother of the female protagonist constantly bullied her. However, in the later stages, the male protagonist retaliated against the stepmother, causing her family to be destroyed and leaving her to live a lonely life until old age.
While I was still feeling sorrowful about my fate, the door was forcefully pushed open.
"Mom, I'm starving!"
A voice of adolescence undergoing voice changes came through, followed by a boy who appeared to be around eleven or twelve years old running in.
I fell silent as I looked at the 200-pound overweight person in front of me.
It should be my biological son in the story, one of the antagonists in the early stages of the plot, who constantly bullied the female lead, Zoltan White.
I had no intention of cooking, so I just waved my hand.
"I'll take you out to eat later."
At this time, a thin girl followed in.
The girl looked timid, and her white school uniform was covered with stains. She said cautiously, "Mom...I'm sorry I came back late today."
It was the female protagonist, Eirene White.
My eyes lit up. It was my daughter.
But before I could do anything, Zoltan glared at Eirene with disgust and shouted, "You worthless! You always come back so late!
We're going to eat out. You just stay home and do your chores!"
As he spoke, he pushed Eirene hard.
She bit her lip tightly and trembled timidly.
I shouted at Zoltan, "What are you doing? This is your sister!"
He continued to curse, "What is she? Isn't she just a worthless daughter? Dad has already said that she is here to serve me..."
I looked around, found a clothes hanger, and hit him hard.
Zoltan immediately yelled in pain. He wanted to resist me, but it was too painful.
After hitting him, Eirene looked at me with sparkling eyes.
I grabbed his ears in disappointment and scolded, "If you can't learn to greet your sister correctly, don't go out to eat!"
When we went out to eat that day, Zoltan was like a defeated rooster, sobbing while eating.
Even though this chubby boy might seem harmless now, as he grew older, he would learn his father's violent tendencies and start abusing Eirene.
Upon returning home that day, I looked at Eirene's simple and cramped room. With a wave of my hand, I said, "Come on, sleep with me!"
As for Zoltan, I didn't even throw a glance at him.
Eirene cautiously finished taking a shower, and I noticed the crisscrossing scars on her body. These were likely the marks left from being beaten by her abusive father.
I stroked her head with heartache and found a reason for my sudden change of attitude.
"Sweetheart, today, someone reminded me, and I realized that the past physical and verbal abuse I subjected you to has caused psychological trauma.
I have made mistakes in the past, but rest assured, I will show you that I have changed."
Eirene stared at me in a daze as if she was meeting me for the first time.
Recalling the original plot, Eirene's biological mother passed away early, and her father was addicted to gambling and prone to violence. Soon after, he was introduced to the stepmother, who was me now in the story.
After giving birth to a son, Eirene's status in the family became even lower.
Eirene not only had to do household chores every day but also lacked any living expenses. Whenever the stepmother was displeased, she would freely beat Eirene, which led to the development of her timid character.
It was also destined for the future tragedy.
