Betrayed by My Fiancé & Half‑Sister, My Twins Ruin Their Wedding
Chapter 2
The housekeepers hauled Elsie Wilson toward the front door.
“Let me go! Mom! Mom!” Elsie screamed, desperate. But there was no answer.
“Dad, I was drugged!” she pleaded, frantic.
But her father’s face was a mask of rage and grief. He wouldn’t listen.
“Still making excuses? Get out! You are no daughter of mine!” he shouted.
Elsie was forcibly removed and left standing outside the towering front doors of her family home.
“Let me in!” she cried, pounding on the doors, tears streaming down her face. Anguish, regret, and self-loathing twisted inside her, pressing against her chest like a stone until she could barely breathe.
Up on the rooftop, Lila Dawson and her daughter Alice watched the scene, their expressions smug with satisfaction.
“Twenty-two years, and that woman is finally dead. God, that’s satisfying!” Lila’s eyes gleamed with malice, her red lips curling into a smile.
“If she hadn’t come between your father and me, things would’ve been different. But we made it. We finally made it,” Lila sighed, relief and triumph mingling in her voice.
“As of today, I’m Mrs. Wilson, and you’re the only daughter of the Wilson family,” Lila declared. Alice watched Elsie still outside, banging on the gates in vain.
Her cries were heart-wrenching, but Alice just shook her head, her face devoid of empathy, filled only with smug satisfaction.
“Have you called our contact?” Lila asked, a hint of worry in her tone.
“Yes. Everything’s in place. She won’t be able to turn things around,” Alice replied, her smile cold and calculating.
A black van pulled up the driveway, and several burly men stepped out. Before Elsie could react, she felt a sharp blow to the back of her neck—and the world went dark.
The men loaded her into the van, which sped away.
When Elsie woke, she found herself hooked up to an IV. She yanked the needle from her arm and scrambled out of bed, desperate to get home. But the door was locked from the outside. When she tried to call out through the small window, only muffled, raspy sounds came out.
Her voice was gone.
Panicked, Elsie clutched at her throat, the tender skin turning red as she strained to speak. But no words came.
Just then, the click of high heels on the hallway tiles grew louder. Elsie banged on the window, trying to draw attention.
That was when she noticed the window was locked from the outside—impossible to open.
The door opened, and Alice strolled in, hand in hand with Stephen Palmer.
Seeing her boyfriend, Elsie rushed over—then stopped short when she saw their intertwined fingers. Shock and confusion clouded her eyes.
“Ah… ah…” she tried to question them, but only hoarse sounds escaped her.
Alice looked at Elsie, surprise flickering in her eyes before delight took over.
“Oh? You’ve lost your voice?” she mocked, covering her mouth with feigned delicacy. Then she proudly swung Stephen’s hand for Elsie to see.
“Curious why I’m holding his hand?” Alice taunted, watching Elsie’s disbelief.
Elsie’s eyes locked onto Stephen’s, searching for answers, her heart breaking.
Why would they do this to her?
“I’ll tell you something, Elsie Wilson: Stephen truly loves me. He was only playing a part with you. He loves me—don’t you, darling?” Alice cooed, wrapping her arm around Stephen’s neck and whispering softly.
“Yes. I only love you,” Stephen replied, tilting Alice’s chin up before kissing her.
Elsie watched them, tears filling her eyes, her hands clenching into fists. She couldn’t bear the betrayal any longer. She charged at them.
A loud slap echoed through the room as her hand met Alice’s face.
“You dare hit me!” Alice shrieked, clutching her cheek in disbelief.
Elsie grabbed Alice’s hair and yanked hard.
“Let me go! You wretched woman! Stephen, do something!” Alice yelled, seeking help from Stephen.
Finally snapping to his senses, Stephen kicked Elsie away, shielding Alice behind him.
“Elsie Wilson, let me be clear—I never loved you. Don’t ever cling to me again!” Stephen spat, looking at her with disdain. “The Palmer family won’t have a tarnished woman like you!”
Elsie lay on the floor, clutching her stomach, unable to move from the pain, her face pale.
“She won’t be able to bother you again. She’ll spend her life in this institution,” Alice sneered, her voice dripping with malicious glee.
Institution?
Hearing that, Elsie’s eyes darted around and spotted the posters on the walls that confirmed her fears—“Tranquil Mental Health Facility.”
They had actually committed her to a mental facility.
Elsie’s anger flared. She lunged at Alice again, sinking her teeth into Alice’s shoulder like a wild animal.
“Ah! Let go! You’re hurting me!” Alice screamed in pain.
No matter how much Stephen struck Elsie, she refused to let go—until the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth.
Doctors rushed in and injected Elsie with a sedative. Her body went limp, her grip finally loosening, leaving Alice’s shoulder bleeding heavily—a ghastly sight.
“A deranged dog! Restrain her! Make sure she’s chained up! I paid too much for this to let her roam loose!” Alice commanded harshly, cradling her injury as Stephen escorted her out.
Late that night, shadows slipped into the facility, evading security, and spirited Elsie away.
When she next woke, she was in Ophelia Jimenez’s villa.
Ophelia heaved a sigh of relief, her eyes bright with joy. “Thank goodness you woke up!”
Every inch of Elsie’s body ached. She opened her mouth to speak, but her voice was still a raspy whisper.
“I saw the news and knew something was wrong when you didn’t pick up your phone. I rushed to your house and… found your mother…” Ophelia trailed off, sorrow and caution in her gaze. “I’m so sorry.”
Elsie bit her lip, tears welling up again.
She couldn’t believe everything that had happened: framed and violated, her mother jumping to her death because of it, being thrown out of her home, and placement in a mental institution. Her boyfriend was already in cahoots with Alice.
Each blow had left her soul in pieces. She had no tears left.
“What do we do now? If they find out you’re here, they’ll come to take you back to that place and lock you up again,” Ophelia fretted.
Elsie turned her gaze to the window, lost in thought.
She knew she couldn’t stay in this city. Alice wouldn’t let her go easily, and her father had disowned her. There was no one left to stand by her, to fight for her.
No one except Ophelia.
But she didn’t want to drag Ophelia into her mess.
After some thought, Elsie decided to leave for the United States—at least for a while.
After her mother’s funeral, when everyone else had gone, Elsie knelt by the grave, racked with remorse.
If not for her, her mother might still be alive.
But now, she had to ensure her own safety first—so that one day she could return and settle the score with Alice.
She had to survive this.
Leaving the cemetery, Elsie boarded a flight to America, departing the city filled with sorrow and pain.
