The Truth Came Out, She Begged Me For Forgiveness
The Truth Came Out, She Begged Me For Forgiveness Chapter 1
She saw me push her fraudster father off the roof with her own eyes. Everyone thought I killed him for fear of being exposed.
Out of spite, she tied me up with ropes and made me watch her be intimate with another man.
Later when the truth came out, she fell to her knees and begged me for forgiveness.

Mia arrived just as my hand was placed on her father's chest.
She watched me push her father off the roof, him falling to his death.
She tore at my collar like a mad woman, slapping me repeatedly.
When the police arrived, they had a hard time getting her off me.
She believed I killed her father to silence him, fearing he would expose me.
The police let me go on grounds of insufficient evidence, but she still wouldn't buy it.
When we got home, she asked me for a divorce.
"Mia, what can I do to make you believe me?"
"I saw it with my own eyes. What else is there to explain? I regret letting you join my father's company. You selfish ingrate!"
No matter how I explained, she wouldn't listen.
To make me agree to the divorce, she started using various hurtful means.
She smashed our wedding photos and threw our engagement ring into the sewer.
She burned the notes recording our five years of love to ashes.
She tried to kick me out of the house more than once, but I hung on despite all the cursing and beating.
I thought that after a while, when the pain of losing her father subsided, she would forgive me.
But I was too naive.
She diverted all her affection to another man, Jude Gilbert.
Jude was my love rival in college, Mia's most ardent pursuer.
Even though she chose me in the end, he did not give up.
I once asked her to stop seeing Jude, but she flat out refused me.
She said she had no feeling for him, otherwise she would never have married me.
She just enjoyed the idea of being pursued, cared for and waited on. She said it was a kind of happiness.
But she didn't know that her happiness was built on my pain.
This time around, Jude took advantage of the situation and got all her affection.
She had no hesitation in video chatting with Jude in front of me, talking like a couple in love.
I was in agony watching my beloved wife having an affair.
I knew she was trying to provoke me, so I chose to endure in silence.
But my indulgence did not change her mind, just worsened her behavior.
She started chatting with Jude about bedroom stuff, positions, kinks... It was simply unbearable to listen to.
Not stopping at that, she even asked Jude to come to our house!
I might be able to tolerate a lot, but not this.
"Mia! You're going too far!"
"You think I'm going too far? Fine, then divorce me!"
I had nothing to say.
Whenever she threatened me with divorce, I was helpless.
After all, it was just a misunderstanding, not a foundational problem in our relationship.
So I firmly believed that when the truth came out, we would be back to a loving couple.
But before that happened, she and Jude did something I couldn't forgive.

I was misunderstood so bad, but couldn't prove myself innocent.
It was her father's impulse that killed him.
He owned a health care product company and his business was doing well.
With her recommendation, her father arranged a department manager position for me.
But I was the only one in this department, having no work to do at all. It was a completely nominal job.
After just one month of joining the company, I was shocked to find out the news that all their health products were fake.
Because of his large-scale fraud, her father was facing a sentence of more than ten years or life imprisonment.
He didn't want to go to jail, so he went up the rooftop to off himself.
After much of my persuasion, he finally calmed down a little.
I moved slowly over, trying to get him down.
Just as I stretched out my hand and was about to grab his shirt, she appeared.
Too ashamed to face his daughter, he slipped backwards and fell off the roof.
From where she was standing, she saw me push her father.
The only people at the scene were the two of us, with no one else to prove my innocence.
Not long after, the police came and took me back to the station for investigation.
I was suspected of both fraud and murder to silence a witness.
But after looking into it, the police found no evidence that I had committed any crime and released me without charge.
Still, she didn't trust me.
After the incident was reported in the news, netizens' belief of a deliberate murder further painted me as an unforgivable sinner.
I couldn't wrap my head around it. We'd been together for five years. Didn't she know me as a person? Didn't she even have a little bit of trust in her husband?
Watching her and Jude being so affectionate, I suddenly realized, she didn't love me that much.
On Friday night, I bought a lot of food, planning to make her a big dinner.
But when I got home, she and Jude were having a candlelight dinner.
She simply ignored my presence and helped Jude with his food.
Jude gave me a challenging glance, took her hand, and bent down to kiss her lightly.
I was instantly furious and came at him, but she violently pushed me away.
"You have no right! Get lost!"
"You are my wife! Do you know what you are doing?"
"What I do has nothing to do with you! There's nothing left between us, and you wouldn't get a divorce, what's wrong with you? I'm telling you. I will never forgive you, and I will never love you again! Give up on that idea!"
Her cruel words broke my heart.
There was no love left in her eyes, only endless hatred.
I wanted to leave, but when I thought of her father's last words, my heart softened.
To not get me involved in the fraud, he gave me a sinecure, isolating me from the mess of his company.
When he was dying, he asked me in tears to take good care of his daughter.
It was my responsibility, and I had no reason to shirk it off.
"Know your place, stop pestering Mia! You hear me?"
Jude pointed at my nose boldly. It seemed now as if he was Mia's husband and I was the other guy.
I was fuming so I kicked him off his chair and starting punching and kicking him.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head, my vision went dark, and I almost fainted.
I looked back and saw her holding a half-broken bottle of red wine in her hand.
"Try touching him again!"
I looked at her in disbelief. I never thought she would do such a thing to me, for Jude's sake.
"Fuck you!"
Jude took the opportunity to get up from the ground and punched me in the face.
I was knocked to the ground, but she just stood there coldly.
Her attitude put off my last glimmer of hope.
Perhaps, from the very beginning, I fell for the wrong person.
I was beaten by Jude and curled up on the ground, unable to move due to the pain.
He didn't stop until he was exhausted and out of breath.
"Mia, throw him out! I don't want him disturbing us!"
She thought for a moment and shook her head.
"Mia! He killed your father! Do you still have feelings for him?"
Jude was adding fuel to the fire.
She said nothing, turned and walked to the balcony.
I felt a little comforted. She still cared about me, right?
Just when I was feeling smug, she brought the clothesline from the balcony and threw it at Jude with a cold face.
"Tie him up!"
"Huh?"
Jude looked at her in confusion.
"Didn't you say you wanted to have me tonight? Are we going to let him cause trouble?"
Her words were a bolt from the blue. My heart felt like it was being squeezed tightly, making it hard for me to breathe.
I even thought I had misheard, but every word was clear.
"Hahaha! Right, let him see it with his own eyes!"
Jude was roaring with laughter, madness filled his eyes.
He quickly tied my hands and feet with the ropes, with help from my wife.
I knew she hated me, but I couldn't believe that she would take revenge in such an extreme way.
We had been together for five years! We were the envy of everyone, with no unfaithfulness between us.
But now she was going to sleep with Jude in front of me. This was more painful than death.
I could only pray that she wouldn't proceed with it.
But then, she drew the curtains of the living room.
Jude couldn't wait to put his arms around her, pulling her on to the sofa. My heart was drumming in my chest.
"Mia, stop it. You can torment me however you want, but not this."
My voice trembled with nervousness, and I looked as pitiful as an unwanted puppy, wagging my tail desperately to beg for mercy.
But she just tossed me an indifferent look, turned her head and got into Jude's arms.
"Mia! If you do this, there won't be going back!"
I screamed in heartbreak, but she didn't care.
Jude was breathing rapidly with excitement and his face was flushed.
"Mia... Mia, I'm finally having you!"
She bit her lips shyly, and hugged Jude's arms a little tighter, as if wishing to become one with him.
Jude couldn't control himself anymore and kissed her hard on her red lips.
3
She responded to Jude enthusiastically. She was so into it, and her enjoyment was something I had not seen in recent years.
I was devastated. I watched my wife cheat on me with another man, but I could do nothing about it.
I closed my eyes in despair, having made my decision.
"Let's get divorced!"
I said that with great sorrow, my heart felt like it was being stabbed by a knife.
The love that I cherished for the past five years turned worthless in an instant.
She immediately stopped what she was doing with Jude, an uncontainable joy crossing her face.
"You really agree?"
I smiled bitterly, agonized inside.
She really wanted this divorce.
It turned out that she had lost her feelings for me long ago, and I was the only one who was holding on, waiting like a fool for the day when the misunderstanding would be resolved.
If that was the case, why should I be sad? She was not worth it.
I took a deep breath and felt a burden lifted off my shoulder.
"Bring the divorce agreement. I'll sign it."
After hearing what I said, she pushed Jude away, got up and ran to the bedroom, and quickly took out the divorce agreement.
She couldn't wait to untie me, and I signed without any hesitation.
As I dragged my injured body away, she embraced Jude in joy, excited with the outcome.
I stayed in a hotel for the night, and received a call from her the next morning. We were getting the divorce finalized.
We were acting like strangers and didn't say a word to each other.
Just as I was about to take a taxi to leave, my cell phone rang.
"Hello, I'm from the police station. Is this Simon Lowe?"
"Yes, it's me."
"Someone accidentally recorded a video of you and your father-in-law on the rooftop. The video shows you did not touch him. Come take a look."
I suddenly turned around and looked at her, subconsciously wanting to prove my innocence.
But when I saw her holding Jude's arm and walking in the opposite direction, I held back.
Forget it. At this point, there was no longer the need to prove anything.
I went to the police station and learned that it was a girl who was taking pictures of the sunset and accidentally recorded me and Mia's father's interaction on the rooftop.
It could be clearly seen in the video that my hands did not touch her father, but rather I was trying to grab his shirt to pull him back.
The girl photographing the sunset was called Hazel Moore. She was a sweet, energetic girl.
I thanked her, but she replied with guilt, "Sorry, if I hadn't seen the comments from the netizens, I wouldn't have thought the facts would be distorted like this. If I had handed the video to the police earlier, you wouldn't have been accused of murder."
"No, I should thank you. Thank you for letting me see clearly the person I thought love me."
"Hmm? What?"
I smiled at her and didn't explain any further.
The police contacted the local media, saying they would clarify the matter to the public the next day. By then, I would be cleared of all charges.
I wondered how she would react when she saw the news?
