Chapter 1

I was from a rich family but I pretended to be poor.

In the eyes of my classmates, I was an unwanted illegitimate child.

Listening to his mockery, I almost burst out laughing but he thought I was crying.

He was so stupid. Just the identities of my parents could scare him to death.

——

My name was Jeremy Franklin and I was a son of a rich family.

My father was the richest man in New York and his business involved 90% of New York's economic fields.

My mom was a diplomat. She was also a best-selling author on a website's novel list. Each of her books was a hit, and she had over a hundred million fans.

I was handsome, had good grades, and came from a wealthy family. I should be a popular figure pursued by thousands of people in school.

But now, I was only called as 'an ordinary handsome guy' by others.

Why?

It was all because of my sister.

She was invited by an international director to make a movie as soon as she graduated, and she even signed a confidentiality agreement for this.

Before the movie was released, she was not allowed to show her face on social media platforms in order to keep the mystery.

We grew up abroad and everyone only knew that the Franklin family had a son and a daughter, but our parents had protected us well and we had never been seen.

So when I was just brought back from abroad, I was ordered to keep a low profile and pretend to be an ordinary person.

It had been three years of pretending, and it was killing me.

My parents wouldn't come to tonight's family-school activity. I, who was unaccompanied by my parents, could only do odd jobs on the side.

Harry Cooper said in a mocking tone as soon as he saw me.

"Hey, Jeremy, are you moving tables again?"

He didn't like me and taunted me every time, just because he was rejected when he openly confessed his love for the school belle.

The school belle said to him, "Harry, I don't like you. I like the kind of cool and handsome guy like Jeremy."

Since then, Harry had his eyes on me.

In fact, I was just a nodding acquaintance with the school belle. She was in the Arts class and I was in the Science class. We would only say a few words when we met on the awards stage.

So I always thought that it was just an excuse for the school belle to reject Harry.

But Harry obviously didn't think so. He was now looking at me with disdain, saying, "You should have asked your parents to come. This is the opportunity for you poor people to meet rich guys."

I was in a private school, and most of my classmates were children from rich families like Harry.

There were also some children from ordinary families who were admitted tuition-free because of their excellent grades.

I was usually very low-key, and my classmates thought I was from an ordinary family.

Looking at Harry's arrogant demeanor, I put down the table and endured it.

I glanced down unintentionally and laughed when I happened to see his shoes.

"Your shoes..."

Before I finished speaking, Harry immediately changed his expression, with the corners of his mouth crazily upturned and his voice grew louder and louder, arrogant as hell.

"Nice shoes, right? They are the newly released collaboration edition, which are very expensive."

Upon hearing his words, several students passing by in the corridor couldn't help but slow down their pace and look over.

I looked straight at him and spoke calmly, "Your shoes are fake."

Harry's smile instantly froze on his face and his eyes widened.

He was furious, "What nonsense are you talking about, you country bumpkin?"

"The shoes were given to me by my father's client last night. They were brought back from Washington. How could they be fake?"

Harry was so anxious that he almost stomped his feet. I calmly took out my phone and tapped it several times, gesturing for him to look.

On it was the front page description of the brand's official website.

I laughed out loud and said, "Don't you know? The shoes have been getting a lot of fakes lately, and the brand made an announcement."

"Currently, it is only available for sale overseas and we do not have it for sale domestically."

Harry looked at my phone in disbelief.

I continued to explain.

"It just so happens that I came across a tutorial on how to identify fake products. So, at first glance, your shoes, to me, are fake."

Hearing this, Harry's face turned pale.

I left him with a final word and then ignored him, moving the table directly.

"Harry, don't wear fake shoes."

Several classmates burst into laughter behind me.

I felt a lot of relief.
