Chapter 1

1

Will James and I were getting married next week.

When we had dinner with our colleagues, Will was in a low mood and kept looking at his phone.

As soon as the screen lit up, he turned his eyes over instantly, but when he saw that it was just an advertisement, he was disappointed.

"Is there anything to deal with at the company?" I approached Will and asked in a low voice.

He shook his head and was about to put the fried fish into my mouth.

"You love fried fish the most..." He said.

An intern who had a good relationship with me said, "Mr. James. Ms. Quinn is allergic to fish."

Will was stunned, and his hands froze in mid-air.

I looked at him. Even an intern knew I was allergic to fish.

The one who loved to eat fish was Will’s ex-girlfriend.

"I..."

The originally lively room suddenly became quiet.

The intern pursed her lips and didn't dare to look at me or Will.

After a long while, I broke this awkward situation.

I poured some red wine into my glass. "Guys, enjoy your meal. I wish you all make a fortune and have a bright future."

Will also lifted his glass.

I drank the red wine, feeling bitter in my throat.

When we left the restaurant, it was windy outside.

Will took off his coat and put it on me. Seeing that I was in a bad mood, he explained, "Hermine, the company's business has been expanding recently. I was thinking about something, so I was a little distracted. I'm sorry."

I met Will's gaze in a daze. His explanation was reasonable. I was the vice president of the company, and I knew what he said was true.

But what business could make him so distracted that he would talk about his ex-girlfriend's favorite food in front of his current girlfriend?

"Will, do you love me?"

As I finished speaking, Will's cell phone rang. There was joy in his eyes, but he quickly concealed it.

"Hermine, wait for me. I'll answer a call and come back soon."

Before I responded, he walked quickly to the smoking area.

Will's expression was no longer as depressed as it was in the restaurant just now, but I couldn't hear what they were talking about because he was too far away.

Reason told me that I shouldn't go any further.

But I still went over involuntarily.

Will was very excited.

"Who do you think you are? Why do I have to wait for you for so many years?

"Fiona, why do you think I will do this?"

Fiona White was crying and shouting on the other end of the phone, and I could vaguely hear it.

After a while, I heard Will say, "I beg you. Don't do that! Wait for me!"

He hurriedly stopped a car and left.

I stood there, feeling the pain in my heart, and my body gradually turned cold. I couldn't believe that in front of Fiona, Will didn't even want to look back at me.

Will didn't come back all night, and at six o'clock in the morning, I received a text message from him.

[I'll go to the company first.]

I didn't sleep all night.

My eyes were swollen and bloodshot, and my face was pale. It was a sad night.

I had known Will for twenty years, and we had been together for three years. We were about to get married, but now his ex-girlfriend suddenly appeared.

Fiona and Will met in college. Will was an excellent boy while Fiona was a beautiful girl. They met at an activity, and Will fell in love with Fiona first.
