The Fog is Gone, Love is Gone
Chapter 2
So I was not afraid of quarreling at all.
My mother stood by and tried to mediate, "Joanna, it's because I think I am too lonely after you go to school. Don't blame your father."
"Please be considerate of me. Besides, this child is very pitiful. He has been in a single-parent family since he was young, and his mother can't take care of him."
I lowered my voice and communicated with her patiently, "If you feel lonely, I have no objection to raising a cat or a dog. I would even think it's fine if you move in with me."
"But now that you took a child home, do we have a lot of money? Mom, you are unnecessarily adding to my burden."
Before I could finish, that kid jumped up from his seat, grabbing the food and throwing it at me.
I didn't have time to dodge and got covered in food.
What a coincidence that I was wearing a newly bought T-shirt!
"Is he pitiful? He almost hit me in the face!"
I grabbed a plate of food and poured it on the naughty kid's head. He was not pitiful at all.
He probably didn't expect me to fight back. He was stunned for a moment and then started crying loudly, trying to rush over and hit me.
I kicked him and he fell over.
Who did he think he was? This was my home.
"Dad, Mom, don't argue with me so much. You have been making troubles since I was a child? You both know my personality. Either he or I in this family!"
"You figure it out! Don't forget who you are relying on for support now."
I went to the room, picked up my luggage and walked out. I planned to stay in a hotel tonight and return to Birmingham tomorrow.
While sitting in the taxi, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't taken my garage kits yet, and I couldn't let that damn kid get them.
I immediately found a moving company's phone number and wanted to make an appointment to move my things tomorrow.
It was embarrassed to talk about that. My parents had been weird since I was a child. Although I didn't agree with it, they were not kind.
I was good at fighting and swearing, being selfish and self-serving.
If they went crazy, I would be even crazier.
I had been through that for so many years, but usually I could tolerate because it was fine to enjoy a bit of mischief.
After all we were family who were blood related.
The main reason was that they had lost their source of income, and if I didn't support them, they would definitely sue me.
However, now they were almost sixty years old but still acted that. I couldn't accept it.
They didn't call to explain all night.
I already knew what they meant.
Early the next morning, I booked a flight for the afternoon. After communicating with a moving company, I prepared to move my things.
When I went there at nine in the morning, that child was still sleeping in.
My parents didn't dare to stop me because I was holding a hammer in my hand.
They were old and afraid of death.
I seemed to want to vent all the resentment I had accumulated over the years.
I decisively directed the workers to move all my things away.
After the lesson I gave him last night, he huddled in his bed in fear, not daring to make a sound.
While packing, I found that several figures were missing.
I couldn't be bothered to confront and look for them.
Before leaving, I said to them, "I just saw in his homework book that his name is John George, right? What a good name, even a dog would hate it. I will calculate the amount of all my things he lost, and the money will be deducted from your living expenses next month."
After saying that, I left.
I knew they must be able to live without me.
As far as I knew, they had been secretly transferring money into a bank card for more than ten years.
Even if it was 500 a month, it would add up a lot of money in over ten years. They attached great importance to the money.
