Chapter 1

If there is no news from a pair of parents, they must be making waves.

When I went home for the holidays, I suddenly had a tyrannical younger brother.

My mother said she adopted an orphan because she was lonely.

So I said directly, "No problem, I will stop paying for your living expenses next month. You three could never live on me and get out to starve."

"You'd better find a wide road, so you will fill yourselves with air more easily."

——

The summer in July began to get hot, so I packed my luggage and set out on the journey home.

Originally I didn't plan to go back, because I had already bought a house in Birmingham and the back and forth journey was troublesome for me.

But this year my parents' attitude was different from previous years. They didn't even call me to urge me to go home.

In previous years, my phone would have been ringing off the hook at this time of year.

So I packed my luggage overnight and prepared to go home.

In advance, they always said that they had got old and they had no one to accompany them so they felt lonely!

I remembered that I saw recently on the Internet that a person in his 20s had a younger brother given to him by his parents.

I was a little worried. Would my parents give a younger brother for me while I was in school?

I couldn't accept that our limited family property would be divided equally.

As soon as I got off the high-speed train, I went straight home.

I didn't tell them that I came back suddenly today.

Anyway, if there was no younger brother, it would be a surprise otherwise it would be a shock.

I wanted to find out what those two were up to.

I rang the doorbell, feeling a little excited.

It felt like opening a mystery box.

It was my mother who opened the door, and I glanced at her belly.

Fortunately, it didn't swell up. There was no way she could give birth to a baby in half a year!

I opened my arms and gave her a big hug.

"Surprise! I have become more sensible this year. I came back on my own initiative without you urging me."

My mother's face looked unnatural for a moment.

"Fine, it's good for you to come back. At least tell me next time. I haven't even prepared your meal."

"It's okay. I don't eat much."

I picked up my luggage and headed home.

"Where's my dad?"

"Your dad is having dinner."

I planned to put my luggage in my room first and then went to eat.

My mother was still following me, so I waved at her. "Mom, go eat, and don't worry about me. I can handle myself in our own home!"

I opened the door of my room and my heart sank at the first sight.

The furnishings in the house had become those of a boy's room. If my garage kits hadn't been still in the display cabinet, I would have thought I had walked into the wrong room.

I was mad, feeling my teeth grinding, and I pointed at the room and asked, "I really can't recognize it. What's going on?"

My mother was reluctant to say anything, so I dropped my luggage and started looking for that child at home.

When did my sixth sense become so accurate? Whatever I thought came true.

I walked into the kitchen and saw a boy of six or seven years old waiting impatiently for my father to peel shrimps for him.

I pointed at the child and asked, "Where did he come from? Is he someone's illegitimate child?"

My father didn't stop his hands and insisted that they adopted the child.

I laughed out of anger.

"Where are the documents and certificates? Show them to me!"

"Why do you bring this bastard guy home?" I said bluntly.

But my dad got angry immediately, "Joanna George, watch your words. Have you forgotten your upbringing absolutely?"

"You brought a child without consulting me. Are you so right?"

I had been crazy since I was a child, and I didn't know how many times I had had quarrels like that with them.
