Chapter 1

The first time I went to my boyfriend's house for dinner, his mother and sister-in-law gave me a cold shoulder.

I complained to him, but he said that my family was poor and embarrassed him.

Without hesitation, I broke up with him.

In fact, I was the daughter of a billionaire, who loved and spoiled me a lot.

1

I had been dating my boyfriend for three years. One day, he said he wanted to take me to his home to have dinner and meet his mother.

I didn't think much about it and agreed.

Because this was a last-minute decision by Harry, I was not well-prepared.

I bought some fruits that everyone liked.

When we rang the doorbell, a heavily made-up young woman opened the door.

She looked down at me and the fruit in my hand, and took the fruit from my hand with a disdainful face.

"Come in."

I turned to look at Harry, speechless.

Harry explained to me awkwardly that she was his sister-in-law Kate.

After we came in, Kate sat on the sofa by herself, without any intention of offering me a seat.

It was Harry who later found me a small stool for me to rest.

Kate was not polite either. She took the fruit I had just brought and started eating, laughing while watching TV.

I signaled Harry with my eyes, but he lowered his head, pretending to reply to a message.

My heart suddenly felt cold.

Not long after, his mother Jill, who was staying in the kitchen, brought out the freshly cooked dishes and invited us to eat.

Kate dropped the fruit and sat on the main seat.

Jill smiled and placed a plate of braised pork ribs in front of Kate, then put stir-fried beef with bitter melon in front of Harry, and finally placed the overcooked tomato and scrambled eggs in the middle.

She told me to help myself.

I looked at the braised pork ribs, which were away from me, and fell into silence.

Seemingly, she wasn't a good host to me.

In the end, I only ate a little bit of tomato and scrambled eggs, and then put down the chopsticks.

After I finished eating, Jill started asking about my family.

"Ada, what does your family do?"

I replied casually, "Something related to land."

My family was doing the real estate business, and indeed we it was something related to land.

Kate, who was sitting in the main seat, chuckled and said, "Oh, you guys are farmers, aren't you?"

Jill's face immediately turned black, and the her tone to me also became cold.

"I hope you understand that there is a huge gap between our two families, and someone like you will drag Harry down."

She pointed at Kate and continued, "Kate's father is the general manager of a company. Only someone like her is worthy of Harry."

How could I not hear it? Jill's words clearly implied that I was not worthy of Harry.

I didn't answer and turned to stare at Harry.

He lowered his head and stirred the rice in his bowl, without making any statement.

The last glimmer of hope in my heart extinguished.

I sneered, "You're right. We're not suitable. Someone like him is not worthy of me."

"How dare you!"

Jill's face turned liver-colored.

I left her house amidst her scolding.

Harry caught up with me at the entrance of the community.

He grabbed my wrist and questioned me, "What do you mean? Are you just leaving like this?"

I shook off his wrist and said, "What else do you want me to do? Stay and let them continue to humiliate me?"

"You're overthinking. They didn't mean that. Can't you endure it for me?"

"Endure it? Do you think I have no feelings? You can't even say a word for me!" I sarcastically said.

Harry had nothing to say.

I took a deep breath and said calmly, "Harry, let's break up."
