Chapter 3

My mother passed out from the shock of Summer's diagnosis.

When she came around, she sobbed, "My poor child! How could you have contracted such an illness?"

My father was heartbroken as well. "Summer, you'll be fine. I swear on my life that I'll make sure everything will be alright."

At that moment, the doctor making rounds arrived at their room. Sarah immediately consulted him about Summer's condition.

Summer, who had been dejectedly sitting by the side of the bed, looked up at the doctor.

The doctor sighed and told them that family members had the highest chance of being a compatible donor.

"What about a twin sister?"

"That would be best. The chances are even higher."

Their eyes instantly brightened. I knew they immediately thought of me.

Sarah quickly sent me a message.

[You ungrateful daughter…]

She had just sent the message out when she immediately deleted it. She sent another message instead.

[Dear Sienna, where are you? We were wrong to say all those things to you a few days ago. We're sorry. Come home. Your father and I miss you. Your sister also knows that she's done you wrong. We won't take your job anymore.]

If I had not witnessed the entire thing, I would have bought their lies again. My mother's acting was award-winning.

She sent me a few more messages, expressing how much she missed me. Brian did the same thing.

Summer also started to show some concern.

What sacrifice they had made just to make me show myself.

As time went by, no response came from me.

Summer started to get worried as she cried, "If she won't do a compatibility test, does that mean I'm dead?"

"No, that won't happen. Don't worry. Your father and I will go and do it right away."

They consoled Summer before heading to do a compatibility test.

Unfortunately, none of them were compatible.

The three of them returned home dejectedly. After realizing that I had not been home for three days, Sarah tried contacting my friends.

However, once she picked up the phone, she froze.

Brian got a little anxious. "What are you waiting for? Call Sienna's friends and ask them where she is."

Seeing Brian's worried gaze, Sarah looked stumped. "I-I… I don't have the contact details of Sienna's friends. I even…"

She trailed off, but I knew what she was about to say.

My mother did not know who my friends were. After all, I paid for all the miscellaneous fees by picking up trash in elementary school.

Brian started to panic.

In the end, they found my teacher and asked a few schoolmates, but none of them had seen me.

At that moment, they finally remembered the last time they saw me was when they instructed me to get Summer back.

Sarah asked Summer, "Didn't Sienna go after you that day? Why didn't she return with you?"

Summer was initially engrossed in the game on her phone, but when she heard Sarah's question, she immediately thought about what happened that day.

Summer replied viciously, "Oh, now I remember. Sienna must've left with that man. That shameless vixen…"

It was another lie.

In that lie, I was a loose woman who flung myself at every man I saw on the streets.

Brian was so furious that he trembled. "Do you remember what that man looked like?"

Summer shook her head, looking aggrieved. "I don't remember. Sienna even threatened me not to tell."

Sarah muttered angrily, "She really is a harbinger of misfortune."

However, none of them could locate me nor the man Summer mentioned.

Summer's body was getting weaker to the point that she needed to be hospitalized. When she found out that she needed chemotherapy, she threw a tantrum by smashing things.

"I'm not doing chemo! I don't want to be ugly! Get Sienna here right away! Get that wretch to give me her bone marrow."
