Chapter 10

All the money I spent naturally came out of Uma's salary.

Cameron, completely oblivious, began pursuing Vincent after putting on a show.

She demanded Vincent take her home and go on a date with her.

Vincent simply ignored her.

I couldn't do anything about it. Vincent was stubborn, and he didn't even know Cameron. Right now, he just thought she was a fool.

I explained the situation to Vincent, but he still didn't understand why I was putting up with her.

I smiled, "I have my reasons."

Unable to win over Vincent, Cameron turned her anger toward me.

"Don't get too cocky. When Dad announces me as his daughter at the coming-of-age ceremony, Vincent will be mine.

"It's like in novels—the main characters must be equals in status. Dad will only pass down the family business to me in the future!"

I sighed and looked at her, asking, "I'm a bit curious, you've been using so much of my skincare products, why is your skin still like this?"

Cameron hesitated for a moment, then pushed me in anger.

"Are the whitening products you gave me fake?

"No, give me the card, I want to go to the beauty salon for a whitening injection!"

I chuckled and handed her the card. After watching her leave, I turned back to focusing on my studies.

The SATs were just days away.

Cameron was originally a top student, ranking in the top ten in our class.

But now, she spent her days either at the beauty salon or loitering around Vincent's house, her mind completely off studying.

On the other hand, my grades were already good, and I was striving to study even harder.

I believed I could excel beyond expectations.

On the day of the SATs, the driver dropped both of us off at the testing center.

I was confident and felt lucky, finishing the test with a sense of assurance.

I waited for Cameron for a long time.

When she finally emerged, she had a mournful expression and burst into tears as soon as she got into the car.

I asked curiously, and she lashed out at me.

"What's the point of the SATs? I'm about to be the heir of the Fox family, not some test-taker. I don't care about these things!"

Well, it seemed she did quite poorly in the exam.

I shrugged, as it wasn't my concern.

After the SATs, Jackson and Vincent threw me a coming-of-age party.

I invited all my classmates.

In the bedroom, I was getting dressed in a formal gown.

Cameron barged in with Uma, ordering me around, "Take off that dress, I want to wear it!"

Uma, no longer pretending to be polite, now thought highly of herself and even tried to seduce Jackson for a promotion.

She calmly stated, "Megan, since Mr. Fox is going to recognize Cameron as his goddaughter, you two are now sisters. Listen to her.

"We are family now, so you should call me mom."

I smiled, "Sure, go ahead and wear it."

I took off the long pink dress and put on a black cocktail dress, completing the look with a diamond necklace my mom had left me.

The pink looked charming and cute on me, while the black added an elegant touch.

On Cameron's tanned skin, the pink just looked ugly.

Even Uma noticed, but Cameron was oblivious, thinking that whatever she took from me was automatically good.

Someone was called downstairs.

As I descended the stairs, my classmates applauded, and Jackson looked proud.

Vincent's eyes were filled with admiration.
