Chapter 3

During the holiday at home, I received a message from Richard.

Richard: [Going on a business trip tomorrow, get ready.]

I: [Tomorrow?]

Is my memory wrong? Tomorrow is clearly New Year's Eve, and I should be spending it with my parents.

Who has to go on a business trip on New Year's Eve?

Which client is so hardworking, not taking a holiday during the New Year and making us work like crazy?

Being alone with Richard could be deadly.

Richard: [Any objections?]

I: [Being able to go on a business trip with you is the blessing of my life.]

Richard: [Remember to book the flight and hotel in advance.]

I: [Isn't that the assistant's job?]

Richard: [I don't trust him with it.]

So he meant to leave it to me, and he trusted me with it.

I should get full marks for reading comprehension.

Hotels were fully booked during the New Year, and it was difficult to find a suitable room now.

I was complaining with my roommate while packing my luggage. I only brought some clothes and toiletries.

She was wearing a face mask and smiling mysteriously, saying, "You have to seize the opportunity. I'll rely on you in the future."

"If you can win over Richard this time, I can start enjoying my retirement life at home."

"I'm so worried, and you're still laughing."

I almost finished packing, and I went to the drawer to get some basic documents.

She seemed to have put a small black bag in my suitcase, saying that I would need it if something happened to me.

Time was running out, and I didn't have time to carefully look at what was inside. I hurriedly left.

Upon arriving in San Francisco, my boss and I went to the hotel I had booked the night before.

The receptionist gave me a room card.

Yes, only one.

At that time, I didn't realize what a room card meant, because I often stayed in double office suites when I was on business trips.

Maybe this time was the same.

Behind me, Richard glanced at the room card with a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Many hotels were fully booked, and it took me a long time to find this hotel.

Led by the waiter, we arrived at the room.

"Ring."

I was stunned when I opened the door.

Why was the decoration of this room so strange?

The pink wallpaper and warm yellow light created an ambiguous atmosphere in the room.

The quilt on the bed was folded into a heart shape, and the bathtub was filled with steaming water and covered with rose petals.

I took a few steps inside, lowered my head and quickly turned around to block the door, blocking Richard.

But I didn't expect that he had already come in and was standing at the door of the bathroom, looking at me with a puzzled expression.

The room was so romantic. Are they seriously?

It must be that the Miss at the front desk accidentally took the wrong one.

"Boss, it should be that the room card was taken wrong. I will call now and ask her to give us another room card."

I looked at Richard whose hands were in his pockets and a cold expression on his face, feeling a chill down my spine.

It was over, Richard must think that I took this business trip as an opportunity to get close to him.

Although I had coveted him long, I was not shameless.

Playing straight was not played like this.

In order to prove my innocence, I turned on the speakerphone and let my voice be heard, so that there would be no suspicion of me, right?

"Hello, you just gave the wrong room card, didn't you?"

Hello, please wait a moment while I verify it for you."

Half a minute later.

"Yes, what you booked was indeed a double room for couples."

Did my ears deceive me?

"Your requirement is for two people to stay, one male and one female. The bed should be spacious, comfortable, and give a homely feeling. Absolutely."

So you arrange a themed room for me?

I emphasized so many times that we were not in a romantic relationship, but she just wouldn't listen.

After I finished explaining my requirements, I asked the girl at the front desk to arrange a suitable room for me.

Before I could finish speaking, she responded, "I've been doing this for so many years, I understand."

Looking at Richard standing at the entrance of the bathroom, I nervously swallowed my saliva.

"I..."

There were not any emotions under his black eyes, and said coldly, "I take you on a business trip, you take me to a hotel room?"

Living with Richard Beck.

I lowered my head, stammering and not knowing how to speak.

Boss, I'm being wrongly accused.

Before I could even explain.

"I always thought you had good self-control, but I didn't expect..."

His terrifying gaze swept up and down on me, with a compelling momentum.

"Do you have any thoughts about me?"

I cursed the receptionist Miss in my heart.

She made me miserable.

My image as a lady, which I had maintained for half a year, collapsed just like that.

After explaining with great effort, I thought I could rebuild my innocent image.

But Richard quietly said, "So hypocritical."
