The 101st Divorce: Dear, Let’s Say Goodbye to Mistakes
Chapter 2
I didn't dare to continue to recall and wake up from my dream.
When the plane landed,I took a taxi home.
It was not until late at night on the third day that Grayson came back.
"Didn't I tell you to wait for me?Why did you break your promise?"
Suddenly waking up,I had a headache and asked in a daze,"Do you want me to wait for you at the airport alone for three days and three nights?"
He pursed his lips and said,"Forget it.I don't want to argue with you.Get up and cook for me."
I didn't answer and rolled up my quilt, continuing to sleep.
He threw away his suitcase unhappily and said,"It's such bad luck to marry a woman like you."
With that,he slammed the door and left.
I didn't set the alarm clock and slept until I woke up naturally.
In the past,I would have gotten up at six o'clock every day, ironed his clothes, and cooked for him.
However,he was not satisfied with the clothes that I had ironed, saying that it was not as freshly pressed as what Selah had done for him.
He found the light dishes tasteless.
When the food was strong enough,he complained it was greasy and unhealthy.
I cooked the dish for a few hours, but he always thought that it was not as good as a simple sandwich made by Selah. The food she cooked made him feel comfortable and moved.
Since that was the case, there was no need for me to serve him so enthusiastically.
But today,Grayson had prepared breakfast for himself.
He ate his porridge without raising his head.
"I'm also sad about your mother's death, but you don't have to mess with me on such a day."
"What day?"I was stunned.
He took out a gift box from behind him.
"Carlee, you've disappointed me.You even forgot our sixth anniversary..."
Halfway through his sentence,he paused.
"What happened to your head?"
"When you were cooking for Selah,I just finished dealing with my mother's funeral.I got altitude sickness and rolled down the hill, knocking stones and getting wet."
I spread out my hands."It's no big deal. Her cold is more important."
He looked at me with his eyes filled with emotions that I could not understand.
After a long while,he said,"Let's eat first. You like seafood porridge.Let's see if you like the gift after you finish eating."
"No need.Today is July 20th,but our wedding anniversary is June 20th.
"It's been a month.By the way,I'm allergic to seafood."
I didn't want a gift that was too late.
I didn't want love and care that was too late.
The one who loved seafood was Selah.
It was Selah who liked to accept gifts.
All I wanted was his company.
He was silent for a moment.
"I've been too busy with work recently.I just went on a business trip to New York.Don't think too much about it.Selah is just a young girl,so there's no need for you to care about her.Besides, there's nothing between us..."
At the mention of Selah,Grayson became talkative.
I couldn't be bothered to expose him.The two of them only booked one room on their business trip.
So I said perfunctorily,"You're right."
Seeing my attitude,he was a little annoyed.
He threw down his fork and knife heavily.
"Carlee, don't be unreasonable, okay?I've given you everything. What else do you want?"
I didn't reply.I was reading the divorce agreement sent by the lawyer.
He continued,"I'm talking to you. What are you doing?
"Can't you just learn something from Selah?Look at her. She's so generous and graceful."
If I had heard those words from him in the past,I would have felt inferior and sad.
I would doubt myself and tremble with apprehension.
In the end,I would apologize to him humbly.
But now,I only felt that he was annoying.
"I have something to do,so I'll go first."
"Carlee,I haven't finished yet!"
He reached out to pull me away, but I avoided.
It had been so many years, but he had never listened to me seriously.
Every time I said a few more words,he would be unhappy. Then,he would slam the door and leave, leaving me alone at home crying silently.
He was not the only one in this house who could leave and go back as he pleased.
I didn't want to look at him anymore,so I drove straight to the lawyer's office.
