Ten Years of Dreamlike Separation
Chapter 3
The next morning, Della showed up at the Francis family's villa as expected.
Mylo kissed her cheek, and she smiled, looking in a very good mood.
Della came over and held my hand in an affectionate manner.
"Monica, what happened yesterday was my fault. I apologize to you, and you will forgive me, right?"
I quickly pulled my hand out, turned my head, and looked into Mylo's eyes.
He was warning me that I should respect Della.
Next, I gritted my teeth and forced myself to smile. "Della... I'm fine."
"Really? That's great!"
Della turned around and took Mylo's arm, leaning her head on his shoulder affectionately.
"Mon, Mylo said the letter was written when you were a child. Since you are grown up now, you can't like him anymore.
"He is your uncle and my fiancé now. Monica, you should bless him."
My nails had long been embedded in my palms, leaving deep marks.
I lowered my head and said, "I know.
"Mylo, I have to go to the hospital. I'm leaving now."
I didn't want to stay but left here immediately.
Mylo caught me. "There isn't your shift scheduled in the hospital today. Why are you, an intern, so active?"
I was a bit surprised, least expecting that he would remember it.
Just as I thought he was caring about me, Mylo shook off my arm.
"I'll drive you to the hospital. It's in time for Della and I to do a prenatal checkup."
Della blushed and whispered, "Mylo, don't say it in front of Monica. It's embarrassing."
Even so, her eyes were fixed on Mylo.
They would get married soon and have children.
However, I was already in Alsatan at that time, so I probably wouldn't have heard the news.
In fact, I went to the hospital for serious business.
The medical conditions in Alsatan were poor, and there were all kinds of viruses.
Samson asked me to get all the vaccines first.
Seeing me paying the fee, Mylo asked me in confusion, "Why do you need to get these vaccines?"
I was hesitating whether to tell him the truth when Della shouted.
"Mylo, my period hasn't come yet this month. Should I buy a pregnancy test stick?"
I didn't hear what they said next and ran away into the vaccination room.
When I came out again, Mylo and Della were nowhere to be seen.
Opening my phone, I saw a message Mylo had sent me.
[Della is feeling a bit uncomfortable, so I'll take her home first. You can try to come back by yourself.]
I didn't have much money to begin with, and the few shots of vaccine I just received spent my last cent.
It was snowing heavily outside the hospital, but I still walked out.
I was dizzy from the adverse reactions to the vaccines.
But no matter how heavy the snow was, I could only walk by myself.
No one was waiting for me or came to pick me up.
The Francis family's villa was located on the mountain. I climbed up step by step and almost fell because the road was slippery.
While seeing the outline of the Francis family's villa, I heard Della's voice suddenly.
"Monica, come quickly! Someone has fainted here!"
Although I was just an intern, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying was still my duty.
I rushed over and found that the person lying on the ground was Neil, a little girl in the neighborhood.
Neil had severe asthma. She, who had an asthma attack, was gasping for breath, and her face turned purple at this time.
I smelled a strong scent of perfume on Della.
The pungent smell would aggravate the symptoms of asthma patients.
Thus, I pushed Della aside and explained to her, "Move aside. Neil can't smell your scent now!"
Upon finding the anti-asthmatic spray in Neil's pocket, I gave it to her and called the ambulance immediately.
I breathed a sigh of relief when Neil obviously recovered.
The next moment, I fainted.
The side effects of the vaccines, coupled with the long walk in the snow, made me exhausted.
Opening my eyes again, I saw Mylo with disappointment in his eyes.
He sighed and asked, "Monica, you see Neil grow up from childhood, but why did you want to harm her?"
