Chapter 1

On the first day of work, the company president said that I looked like his long-lost daughter and gave me a salary of 100 thousand dollars, on the condition that I ate together with his wife every weekend.

Once my boyfriend heard this, he yelled at me in front of my colleagues, “How could you believe such a cheap lie?! It’s just an excuse for him to pay you for dirty favors! If your mother learned that you got yourself a sugar daddy after graduation, she’d jump off a building!”

So, I rejected the president’s offer.

Someone told the department manager that my boyfriend and I insulted the president, and he fired us.

My boyfriend was really shocked by this. He stayed at my place and loafed around instead of working. When he no longer had any money left, he asked my mother for money.

After that, he asked me to sell my organs.

After I said no, he knocked me out with chloroform and sent me to an unlicensed clinic. The doctor there did not use the standard procedures, so I died from the pain.

When I opened my eyes again, I returned to the day I met the president.

This time, I shouted, “Sir, you look just like my father, even though we are not related at all!”

“I heard that our president’s daughter went missing when she was seven.

“After that, our company’s business got better. She might have been sacrificed. The rich love doing that sort of thing.

“Nina, capitalists are all horrible people. Stay away from the boss when you see him,” Stanley York, my boyfriend, whispered into my ear. “You’ve only just joined the workforce and don’t know anything. Listen to me, alright?”

I scoffed and rushed out of the pantry. Then, I shouted to the company president, who had come for a work inspection, “Sir, are you my dad? We have the same eyes, tone of skin, and black hair! We look practically identical! I knew it! My horoscope has never let me down! You must be my dad!”

Everyone on the floor fell silent.

The executives and my colleagues were stunned.

Nathan Steward, the president, put down the documents in his hands and came over to me. As he stared at me, his gaze turned from puzzlement to shock, then to excitement.

He grabbed my hand, and I noticed that his voice quivered when he spoke.

“You’re right.”

He dragged me into his office and told me that his daughter also had a red mole on her palm.

He asked me about what I remembered from my childhood.

When I left his office, Stanley’s gaze on me had changed.

He threw the documents at my face and pointed at me aggressively. “Nina, you’re so shameless! You’re a postgraduate, but you’re in such a hurry to suck up to a capitalist?! Everyone in the company knows that you’re my girlfriend! You just embarrassed me!

“If you continue being so stubbornly stupid, we’re breaking up!”

I laughed. “Sure!”

I was going to fight for a better tomorrow for myself. No matter what I did, it would still be better than him selling my organs.

This was what happened in my previous life.

At that time, the president told me that my face, personality, and the red mole on my palm were the exact same as his daughter’s.

He then asked me whether I was willing to do a paternity test, but promised that even if I was not his real daughter, I could move into his house.

It had been more than ten years since his daughter went missing, and Yelena Steward, his wife, missed her daughter so much that she became clinically depressed. So, the president hoped that I could keep her company and make her happier.

Our president, Nathan Steward, was a famous entrepreneur who had appeared on the news a few times.

But that was the first time I saw his hands tremble and his eyes shine with a pleading look.

I could not reject the request of a father.

But my mother had broken her leg a day ago and was resting at home. I had to take care of her.

I rejected his offer to move into his house but agreed to eat with Yelena and go out with her every weekend.

As for the paternity test, I told him that I needed to think about it.

I was worried that no matter what the results were, my mother would be sad.

The president transferred 100 thousand dollars into my bank account and promised me that this would be my monthly salary from that moment on. I was also to bring up all of my requests to him.

I was really excited when I walked out of his office.

That was the first large sum of money I had earned. I wanted to buy some supplements for my mother to replenish her calcium, then treat Stanley to a meal. I was also planning to buy him some sports shoes.

When Stanley noticed that the president had transferred money to me, he swept all the documents on his table to the floor and yelled at me, “His gaze was really dirty when he held your hand just now! Couldn’t you tell?! If you want to suck up to some old man, why did you even bother with a master’s degree? You could have become an escort at eighteen! To think that we’d have such a disgrace like you graduating from our university!”
