Chapter 3

"Jason, are you out of your mind?"

Clara finally snapped out of her shock and grabbed my wrist.

Following the system's instruction, I picked up the glass of water on the table and splashed it on her face.

The warm water made Clara freeze.

She looked at me like she was looking at a stranger.

"How did you become like this? If I had known you were so unreasonable, I would have..."

I interrupted her. "If I had known you were such a bitch, I wouldn't have saved you back then!"

Back then, when the Peyton family went bankrupt, Clara's father jumped from a high building, and her mother also committed suicide.

The creditors broke Clara's leg and threw her into the sea.

I happened to pass by while fishing. I rescued her and took her home.

I thought the two of us could at least keep each other company and give each other warmth.

But Maxey's return turned my eight-year marriage into a joke.

The system's revelation and intervention caught me off guard.

I looked at the disheveled Clara. For the first time in my life, I regretted the decision I made years ago.

Suddenly, Maxey let out a cry.

He staggered and leaned on the office desk.

"Clara, I feel dizzy."

Without even wiping the water off her face, Clara immediately turned around to support him.

She helped Maxey to the couch without even sparing me a glance.

I turned to leave, but she stopped me.

"Where do you think you're going?! Maxey almost fainted because of you!"

She pressed the bell and asked for the private doctor to be summoned.

After listening to Clara's words, the doctor wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"Ms. Peyton, although both these gentlemen have type A blood, anemia doesn't necessarily require a blood transfusion. Even if a blood transfusion is required, we can..."

"That's too much hassle." Clara's voice was icy.

"Since Jason hit Maxey, he has to take full responsibility. Just draw his blood."

The system urged me, "Don’t just stand there; make your move!"

I rubbed my hands and pushed open the office door.

"Urgently seeking type A blood, $15,000 for 100 mL!"

I turned and looked directly at Clara's surprised face.

"What? Don't tell me you're unwilling to spend a little bit of money?"

People nearby gradually gathered around.

"Ms. Peyton, Mr. Jenas, my blood is type A. I also have a blood donation certificate. Are you really paying $15,000 for 100 mL?"

I smiled. "Ms. Peyton is anxious to save Mr. Tyler. The more the better."

After saying that, I cut through the crowd and went straight home.

Under the system's instruction, I spent most of the day re-drafting the divorce agreement.

It was already two in the morning when Clara came back home.

She smelled of cologne.

She had forgotten that I hated this kind of smell the most.

Picking up the divorce agreement I drafted, she let out a series of scoffs.

"You want me to leave with nothing? Did you get kicked in the head?"

She threw me an organ donation agreement.

"Don't play tricks with me. Either you sign it yourself, or I'll get people to make you sign it."

I read it and, sure enough, she wanted my kidney.

Clara said while modifying the divorce agreement, "Maxey has health issues. You should help him as a favor to me. To thank you, I'll give you $150,000."

She stared at me coldly. "Don't be too greedy, or I'll start to think that your intentions weren't that pure when you saved me."

Perhaps because she felt really confident, she went into the bedroom to sleep right after she said that.

A cold gust blew in from the window, sending chills down my back.

Following the system's instruction, I turned on the computer in the study.

Clara's social media account password was easy to guess. I immediately figured out it was the day Maxey went abroad.

After all, she had tattooed this string of numbers on her ankle.

I took a photo of the organ donation agreement and posted it online with a note. "Seeking matching kidneys at a high price, $150,000 each; interested parties, please call."

Below, I attached Clara's phone number.

At five in the morning, our door was knocked open by a group of policemen.

Clara was taken to the police station before she could even change her clothes.

As a witness and her family member, I also went with her.

The police presented screenshots of Clara's social media post and the IP address of the login.
