Second Chance: Repairing Our Broken Love
Chapter 2
Andy, I didn't need your sympathy.
Because I really didn't have many days left.
I didn’t say anything.
It didn't matter. It didn't matter to him at all.
Zoe said that she had a stomach ache and couldn't walk. Andy quickly went to find a wheelchair for her.
After he left, Zoe straightened her back and walked up to me. She didn't look sick at all.
"Mia, are you coming to the hospital to see a doctor? Or are you here to see me and Andy?"
"Actually, I'm not afraid of being seen by you at all, because you'll only see how much Andy cares about me."
"I just had painful menstruation, but he immediately registered the best specialist for me and canceled the meeting to take me to the clinic in person."
"Mia, take a good look at yourself. I'm the one that he loves the most. You're nothing to him."
"If I were you, I would have left a long time ago. Don't you feel ashamed to occupy a man who doesn't love you?"
Should I be ashamed and embarrassed?
But when Andy proposed to me for the first time, he also knelt down on one knee and shouted excitedly.
"I, Andy, swear that I will only love Mia in this life!"
I covered his mouth to lower his voice, but he said that he wanted to tell the whole world and let the gods witness it.
When Andy came back, Zoe suddenly fell to the ground.
She asked me with tears in her eyes.
"Mia, why did you push me?"
Andy rushed up and pushed me away before I could react.
I stumbled and fell to the ground.
Andy helped Zoe up and scolded me harshly.
"Mia, you are so vicious! She's a patient. How can you bully her like this?"
Zoe sobbed. "Andy, it's my fault. I made Mia angry."
Andy hugged her tightly. "Zoe, don't be afraid. I'm here."
He turned to me and shouted, "Mia, apologize to Zoe!"
His handsome face looked a little ferocious because of anger.
I slowly got up from the ground as if I was moving in slow motion.
I didn't have much strength left, so I didn't want to get angry.
If she said that I pushed her, then so be it.
Seeing that I was about to leave without saying a word, Andy shouted, "Mia, apologize!"
"If you apologize now, I can tell you the password of the safe."
He said sarcastically, "Haven't you always wanted to know? Now is your only chance!"
My eyes widened unconsciously and I stopped in my tracks.
I didn't expect Andy to threaten me with the password I've always wanted.
The most important thing in my life was in the safe.
I wanted to take it away before I died.
But Andy refused to tell me. He thought I was greedy for the money in his safe.
In his heart, I was a gold digger.
Back then, I divorced him because he was poor.
Now that he was rich, I wanted to take his money shamelessly.
Although he was very rich, he signed an agreement with me before the remarriage. I couldn't get a penny from him.
But a long time ago, he would buy me a 16-dollar cake with the last 17 dollars because I wanted to eat it.
I asked him, "Really?"
Andy looked at me with a sneer.
"Mia, you really want money, don't you? Apologize to Zoe. If she forgives you, I'll tell you the password."
Zoe exclaimed, "Andy, don't..."
Andy comforted her. "Don't worry. There are only 50,000 dollars in the safe. It's enough to send her away. Besides, it's a good deal to make you happy with 50,000 dollars."
Andy was right. I was short of money.
If I bought imported medicine, I could actually hold on for a little longer.
But I couldn't get the money from Andy. He would only tease me and wouldn't give me the money.
So I stopped taking the medicine and used the rest of the money to take painkilling injections.
But he was wrong. The most important thing in the safe was not money at all.
Even a million or 10 million was not as important as the piece of paper inside.
I slowly loosened my clenched fists.
I need that piece of paper.
So I lowered my head and apologized to Zoe.
"Miss York, I'm sorry."
I had apologized to others many times in my life, but this time, I felt so embarrassed that I wished I were dead.
Seeing that I lowered my head, Andy curled his lips and said, "Mia, you don't seem to be very noble. I almost forgot that you always know when to yield and when to stand tall in front of money."
His eyes were full of disdain. He didn't even bother to look at me.
Zoe pretended to be generous and said, "Mia, it's okay. You didn't do it on purpose."
I lowered my head and didn't speak.
Andy pushed her away.
I stood on the spot and looked at the bloodstains on the ground.
One drop, two drops...
I bumped my hand on the ground and broke my skin.
Looking at the blood, I suddenly wanted to laugh.
Andy, if you found out one day that everything you had done today was accelerating my death.
What expression would you have then?
