Chapter 1

In the fall, I took my boyfriend home.

However, the lady next door brought her crippled son in his thirties to my place, claiming that I was already married to her son and accusing me of unfaithfully bringing another man home.

I thought they were deliberately causing trouble.

But just as I was about to call the police, she unexpectedly produced the marriage certificate, as well as romantic wedding photos of me and her son, and even the video of our wedding.

She even showed a record of the 300,000 dollars they transferred to my account as an engagement gift for my family.

I was instantly dumbfounded.

I remembered clearly that I had never done these things, nor had I received any money from them, but how could they have such stuff?

"Young man, I suspect their whole family is scheming to trick you out of a fortune by declaring that she'll marry you," the lady next door said, trying to persuade my boyfriend.

"You bitch, how dare you do such a shameless and outrageous thing? Come back home with me," her disabled son cursed and took me away to their village in their hometown overnight.

In their village, I suffered all kinds of abuse and was forced to give birth to children non-stop.

Finally, after a failed escape, I was beaten to death by the mother and son.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back to the day when my boyfriend was getting ready to come home with me.

Looking into the mirror, I found myself still intact. I couldn't help but pinch my smooth face.

I felt real pain on my face, which proved that this was not a dream. I could no longer hold back my emotions and burst into tears.

"Alicia, your boyfriend is coming soon. Why are you crying suddenly?"

My mother hurriedly ran over after hearing the crying and asked with concern.

"Mom!"

I threw myself into my mother's arms. Feeling the familiar warmth, I couldn't stop my tears from streaming down at all.

I couldn't remember how many years it had been since I last leaned on this warm embrace.

In my previous life, my boyfriend came to my home from a neighboring city a hundred miles away to visit my parents for the first time.

While we were happily chatting, my neighbor Mrs. Chase suddenly came with her 30-something crippled son.

She claimed that I was already married to her son and took out our marriage certificate, wedding photos, wedding video, and the transfer record of 300,000 dollars to prove it.

Mrs. Chase moved to our community half a year ago.

Since she lived with her disabled son and had a strange temperament, few people were willing to talk to them.

But considering they were our neighbors, we would always care about them and share our delicious food with them.

When I went home on weekends, I felt sorry to see how lonely they were and helped them clean their house a few times.

Until one day, she took my hand and said, "Alicia, what a kind girl you are. How about you become my daughter-in-law? I promise I'll treat you well."

Her son was a lazy cripple in his thirties and was idle at home.

But I was a young girl in my twenties who graduated from a prestigious university. How could she have the nerve to say such words?

It disgusted me so much that I never dared to go to her place again.

I thought the matter was over.

Unexpectedly, when I brought my boyfriend home for the first time, Mrs. Chase came to my house with her son, slandered me that I was married to her son, and produced some evidence.

I didn't know how she got the marriage certificate, wedding photos, and the wedding video, nor did I know when she gave me the 300,000 dollars as an engagement gift.

But I was sure that these were all fake.

I had never been married to anyone, let alone taken wedding photos or held a wedding.

Once there was a transfer to my bank account, I would be notified by a text message. I had never received any transfer notification.

However, she didn't give me any chance to defend myself. Without further ado, she forcibly took me back to their hometown, locked me in a dark room, and treated me as a tool for bearing children.

During those desperate days, I did think about committing suicide, but when I thought of my parents at home and my boyfriend, I chose to endure such a miserable life.

Finally, I gradually gained their trust and got some freedom.

It was not until this time that I realized that I was not the only one who suffered like this in their village. Most of the men there were disabled, and their wives were all forcibly brought back in this way.

On a dark and windy night, I escaped with a few girls who were abused in the same way, but we were soon caught.

The mother and son beat me until I was on the verge of death. My serious injuries were infected, causing me to have a high fever.

I suffered from agony in that dark room for half a month before I breathed my last.

When I recalled this, I trembled all over.

I would never allow such a nightmare of my previous life to happen again. I decided to bring this vicious mother and son to justice.

My mother didn't know what happened, but she still comforted me for a while. When she saw that I gradually calmed down, she went out to clean up the room.

Right at this moment, Horton made a video call to me.

I answered it.

The familiar face in the video appeared in my dreams countless times in my previous life.

The tears that I had just held back flowed down again.

"Ali, why are you crying?" Horton asked nervously.

I wiped my tears and said, "I'm fine. Horton, don't come over today, please."

"Why? Is it that your parents disagreed?"

Horton's smile froze on his lips. He was silent for a long while before he continued in a slightly hoarse voice, "Ali, I can go next time, but don't worry, no matter what your parents ask for, I'll try my best to do it."

"No, it isn't."

I quickly shook my head and said, "My parents like you very much. There is something else going on. But please believe me, I'll explain everything to you after I solve it. I love you."

"Ali, I love you too. No matter what happens to you, remember, I'll always stand by you."

The call ended.

I lay prone on the table and cried for a long time again before I pulled myself together.

In my previous life, the wicked mother and son next door came because my boyfriend was here.

If my boyfriend wasn't here in this life, she wouldn't come over, would she?

I quickly shook my head and denied this idea. She had been planning this for so long, so I believed she would not give up just because my boyfriend didn't come.

I had to find some proof before she came and be prepared for what she would do.
