Chapter 4

"I was just talking about this. You didn't even tell me in advance."

I smiled. Mandy looked at Pamela awkwardly. I looked down and pretended not to see it.

"Go check on your kids. Since you're not around, they cried a lot and are pitiful."

Jacob became serious and anxiously asked Vincent to let him see his kids. However, Mandy was calm and still sat on the sofa.

Seeing Jacob enter the guest bedroom, Mandy slowly said, "Taylor, Jacob got into a fight with someone at the construction site a while ago and was put in detention. Now the construction group doesn't want him anymore."

Mandy pressed her lips, and it looked like she wanted to say something but was hesitant.

"I only make 3,000 dollars a month, and it's really hard to support four people."

I looked up at Mandy and asked her to wait for me. Then, I turned into my bedroom.

I had just withdrawn some cash two days ago, so I searched the cabinet and took some out to give them. Just as I was about to open the door, I heard Mandy whisper in the living room.

"Pamela, will Taylor agree to raise them?"

"Shh. Keep your voice down. Let her take care of them for a few days. She will have to agree even if she doesn't want to!"

I resisted the urge to rush out. I adjusted my breathing and walked out, pretending to be calm.

I wanted to see what other tricks they were going to play!

"Mandy, I didn't even know you had two babies. Take these cash. On behalf of Zach, congratulations."

"No, Taylor, that's not what I meant." Mandy quickly declined, waving her hands.

"Just take them. They are for the kids."

Pamela chimed in, so Mandy took the money.

"Okay, then. Thank you, Taylor."

"It's not easy for you to come all the way here. Have dinner first and then go back."

Hearing my words, Mandy nudged Pamela with her elbow.

Pamela immediately said, "Jacob and Mandy rarely came here. They can stay here for more days!"

I didn't refuse and smiled, "I also want them to stay here for more days. But Vincent is not in good health, and Zach is not at home. I can't take you out for a walk."

Before, Vincent and Pamela had stayed here for more than half a year, claiming that they were in poor health and needed to see a doctor in the city.

If Vincent really had health problems, we should be filial to him. But Vincent had been checked several times, and the results all showed that he just had high blood pressure, nothing serious.

I didn't like living with elders, and I had told Zach about it before we got married. But they always thought that the house was bought by Zach and insisted on living here.

Mandy hurriedly said, "It's okay, Taylor. We can go out for a walk by ourselves. We won't bother you."

Why were they so shameless?

"Just live here at ease!" Vincent came out of the room and glared at me. He looked like he was targeting me.

Not to be outdone, I rolled my eyes. "Vincent, aren't you feeling unwell?"

"My family is back, and of course I feel much better!"

His words left me speechless.

But Jacob hurriedly asked after hearing Vincent's words.

"Dad, didn't Zach take good care of you?"

Then, he became sorrowful.

"I'm incompetent and have you living someone else's home."

"What do you mean by living someone else's home? This is Zach's home. Living here is just like living at my home!"

He was really shameless.

Vincent patted Jacob on the back and motioned for me to serve them water.

I snorted and pretended not to see it, so Pamela had to pour the water herself.

Mandy noticed that the atmosphere was a little subtle and said softly, "Why don't we just leave after dinner? We can't cause trouble for Taylor."

Mandy was naturally beautiful, and her pretentiousness made her look even more pitiful.

She was forcing me.

Vincent frowned, "I told you to live here at ease. Doesn't my words have any effect?"

"Of course they does," said I calmly.

Seeing Pamela was coming over with water, I continued, "You succeed in giving Tom's mother, Duffy, that piece of land at the entrance to the village."

"What? Vincent, how dare you give it to that slutty old woman?"
