My name was Bailey, and I had been married for over three years without getting pregnant.

My period had been gone for half a month recently, so my husband's mother, Aurora, rushed me to the hospital for a check-up.

The doctor congratulated me on my pregnancy with certainty.

I was so shocked that I almost fainted.

I had secretly been taking birth control pills for the past three months to avoid getting pregnant, especially with a promotion opportunity coming up at work.

While I was worried, Aurora smiled. She spread the news to the family group on the way and carefully supported me all the way back home.

When we got home, my dog Coco ran to me as usual and wanted to jump into my arms and act cute.

But Aurora pushed me aside and kicked Coco, saying, "Get away, animal. Don't hurt my precious grandchild."

Coco seemed to understand, looking hurt, and walked away with his tail between his legs.

My heart broke for him, and I hugged Coco in my arms and stroked her head. "Don't be afraid, Mom will protect you."

But Aurora quickly intervened, scolding me for being close to the dog.

"Stay away from that animal. What if you bring germs to my precious grandson?"

"You're a college-educated person, but you're not as sensible as an old lady like me."

"You should send this dog away immediately."

Being pregnant already made me unhappy, and her words ignited my anger.

"If you dare to send the dog away, I won't have the baby."

Aurora's face changed, and she angrily waved her hands at me.

Coco, sensing my distress, rushed over and growled protectively at her.

The Border Collie was really smart. Whenever Aurora tried to reach out her hand, he bared his teeth and growled to prevent her from hurting me.

Aurora was scared, so she turned around and called her son to support her.

Louis came out of the room.

"Bailey, how can you say that? Mom only cares about you. If something happens to the baby, you'll regret it."

"Animals are animals, and we must distinguish between the primary and the secondary."

After a lecture, he helped Aurora sit and handed her a glass of water.

"Don't be angry with her, Mom. Pregnant women are emotionally unstable. She won't dare not give birth."

"I'll handle the dog situation; soon, you'll have a healthy grandson."

After saying this, he turned around and glared at Coco with a fierce look.

I was so angry that my blood pressure soared, and severe headaches, chest tightness, and other discomforts followed.

I retreated to my room and lay down with the help of the wall. Coco followed me in and lay down where I could reach him with my hand.

As I examined the pregnancy report, the word "pregnancy" loomed large, and I found myself torn between keeping the baby or having an abortion.

The more I thought about it, the worse my headache became.

In frustration, I crumpled the report and tossed it in the trash, deciding to think about it after a good night's sleep.
