Chapter 2

Aurora had changed her usual sarcastic and mean demeanor, pretending to be gentle and considerate, always finding ways to feed me delicious food while imposing restrictions.

One day, after work, I sensed something was off as soon as I opened the door.

Usually, Coco would always wait impatiently at the door. As long as the door opened a little, he would jump to greet me. But today he was unusually quiet.

An uneasy feeling grew in my chest, prompting me to rush inside without changing my shoes.

"Coco, mom is back."

When I entered the living room, I saw Louis and Aurora.

The atmosphere felt tense, and before I could react, Louis swung his fist at me. I instinctively covered my face, but the pain left me speechless.

In the next moment, he grabbed my collar and pushed me against the wall, shouting, "Bitch! How dare you cheat on someone behind my back?"

Furious at his accusations, I retorted, "Louis, are you insane? What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Who is the adulterer? I was born sterile. Whose child is in your belly?" he yelled, his voice echoing.

I was even more confused. I swear I never cheated on someone.

"That's impossible! How long have we been married, and you just now discovered you were sterile?"

"You dare not admit it, huh? How shameless."

His glare was intense as he brandished a medical report and then slammed my head against the wall.

The pain made me dizzy and I cried out.

Suddenly, Coco's barking broke through. He must have sensed my distress and was scratching at the door, likely locked in another room.

Aurora was fanning the flames, cursing me without allowing me to defend myself. "Shameless bitch," she spat.

"It's my fault for letting this kind of woman into our family."

"Beat her to death. She deserves it." she continued, acting as if she had suffered a great injustice.

"She's been taking birth control pills, afraid of getting pregnant by another man. If I hadn't cleaned the room and found the pills, my son would still be wearing cuckolds."

With her words, Louis became more aggressive, tightening his grip on my neck.

Desperate to survive, I struggled and grabbed a vase from the table, smashing it to escape his hold.

Just then, Coco burst through the door, positioning himself protectively in front of me, his fur bristling.

Aurora was scared and took two steps back.

But Louis remained undeterred, still trying to hit me and demanding to know who the adulterer was. His fists came dangerously close, but Coco's growls kept him at bay.

"Get out of the way, or I'll kill you, you damn dog," he threatened.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

"Police, open the door."

Louis and Aurora exchanged glances, and then reluctantly opened the door.

Thankfully, Coco had shielded me, allowing me to secretly send a text message to the police.

When Louis was taken away for domestic violence, Aurora pointed at me and complained to me.

"Damn you! You got pregnant by another man and caused my son to be taken by the police. It's unfortunate for our family to marry such a vicious woman."

Ignoring her, I quickly packed a few clothes and dog food, taking Coco with me as I left that home.

I knew a hotel wouldn't allow dogs, so I boarded Coco at my regular pet store and rushed to the hospital for injury documentation. My experiences with my original family had taught me that I couldn't stay with a violent man. I had to leave this marriage.
