Chapter 2

Shane grew up together with Jean. He was her childhood sweetheart and first love.

When they were in college, they had already been engaged and planned to get married after graduation.

Later, for some reason, Jean's parents suddenly forbade her from dating Shane, so they broke off contact.

Shane then went abroad. Two years later, Jean's parents suddenly died in a car accident.

Shane came back, and the two of them contacted each other again.

The first time she came back from a trip with Shane, she didn't say anything to me. She thought that I didn't know, but she became bolder and bolder, often going to various places in pairs with Shane.

My parents and the neighbors reminded me several times. I didn't lose my temper and talked to her calmly because she was pregnant.

She said that she just regarded Shane as her elder brother and the person she really loved was me.

I believed her.

At that time, I loved her to the core. If I loved someone, I would choose to believe her.

Now that I thought about it, I was really stupid at that time.

But I din't care anymore. She could live happily with Shane and the cat forever.

I waved my hand and hailed a taxi. Then, I rented a house near the company.

My colleagues all knew about my parents' death and expressed their concern for me. I felt warm in my heart.

"Ryan, please come here."

The manager Elaine Brown called me to her office.

"The company is going to open up a new business in Boston and needs a capable person in charge. I recommended you to the chairman, so I want to ask for your opinion."

I agreed without hesitation.

When my parents were alive, I should not travel far.

Now that my parents were gone, there was nothing worth staying in this city.

In fact, a few years ago, the company asked me if I wanted to go to another city, but I refused.

At that time, my parents were still alive, and Jean had a strong desire to control me. She didn't allow me to go to other cities and wanted me to stay with her and take care of her.

"Don't you need to think about it? Or go home and discuss it with your wife?"

"Manager, I'm divorced."

Elaine was stunned for a moment.

"I'm sorry!"

I shook my head. "Nothing."

Jean was insignificant in my life. She didn't care about me at all. Now, she was probably flirting with her lover.

After that, Elaine announced in front of all my colleagues that she would appoint me as the person in charge of the business in Boston. All of them were happy for me and said that they would hold a farewell party for me.

I did not reject their good intentions. I also wanted to use this method to say goodbye to this city for the last time.

In front of the hotel, I saw Jean again. She was holding Shane's arm. When she saw me, she immediately rushed forward angrily and pointed at Elaine.

"Who is she?"

She didn't change at all. She was still the same as before. She questioned me without asking for the reason.

Disgusted, I coldly replied, "It has nothing to do with you."

"Why not? I'm your wife!"

"Please figure it out. We are divorced."

"Who said we're divorced? We didn't sign the divorce agreement, nor did we get the Decree of Divorce. What right do you have to say that we're divorced?" Jean shouted recklessly.

I hated her even more.

It was the entrance of the hotel. My colleagues and many guests were here for dinner.

She only cared about herself. Except for Shane, she couldn't see anyone else in her eyes.

Shane pointed at me and said angrily, "Ryan, I didn't expect you to be such kind of person. You didn't divorce Jean and got together with another woman. Jean was blind to marry you."

"Shut up!" I rebuked him angrily.

Not only did he insult me, but he also insulted Elaine.

"What's wrong? Are you angry because I hit the nail on the head?"

Shane looked at me provocatively.

The anger on my face intensified. Elaine grabbed me and smiled at Jean. "Miss Clark, I think you misunderstood. I'm Ryan's manager."

"Manager? What kind of manager can seduce your subordinate?" Jean sneered!

"Ryan, I'll give you another chance. Go home immediately. Don't make a fool of yourself here.

"Also, call your parents and ask them to go home immediately. They haven't been home for so long. Don't you know how messy the house is?

"Don't you want to live well anymore?"

You only miss my parents when the house is messy. Weren't you the one who hated them the most when they were around?

I roared like a madman, "Shut up. You don't have the right to mention my parents."

"How dare you shout at me!"

Jean's fingers trembled as she pointed at me.

"Okay, okay, I'll call your parents now and ask them to teach you a lesson."

In the past, she never took the initiative to call my parents. No matter what happened, she always called me. No matter how busy I was, she always asked me to appear in front of her immediately.

But now, she was willing to swallow her pride and take the initiative to call my parents. What the hell.

"Go ahead!" I sneered!.

"Do you think I wouldn't dare?"

Jean took out her phone.

Elaine was stunned. "Miss Clark, don't you know that Ryan's parents have passed away?"

"What did you say?"

Jean stayed where she was.

"Ryan's parents passed away just a week ago. As Ryan's wife, don't you know it?"
