Chapter 2

Seraphina took me shopping at the mall, and then we watched a movie in the evening.

She said these were things on my old bucket list, and lately she's been repeating them from time to time.

She helped straighten my collar.

"Alec, you have to get better soon."

Under the streetlight, Seraphina's gaze was both doting and expectant, making my heart race.

"Seraphina."

"Did I... really like you a lot before?"

Even with my memory loss, I could still feel intense emotions for the woman in front of me.

Seraphina stopped in her tracks.

She looked up at me, smiling sweetly.

Seraphina usually appears quite cool, but when she smiles, there's an indescribable charm.

She thought for a moment, then said leisurely.

"You, my dear, chased after me for a whole six months."

"Before I finally agreed."

"Sometimes I wonder if you're deliberately getting back at me."

"I'll do my best to recover my memories."

I held her hand, "Seraphina, wait for me a little longer."

On our way back, suddenly a man rushed out from around the corner.

He was swaying, unsteady on his feet.

Luckily, Seraphina caught him just in time, preventing him from falling. He had a baby face and tilted his head to smile at Seraphina.

"Thanks."

Seraphina looked down at him too. They made eye contact for a few seconds before Seraphina said softly,

"You're drunk."

"Being drunk is good," the man laughed.

"Nobody cares anyway."

"It's better to be drunk. When you're drunk, you don't feel pain."

For some reason, I felt there was something strange about the atmosphere between him and Seraphina.

Seraphina held his arm tightly, not letting go. After a while, she said,

"It's not safe to drink late at night."

"You should go home early."

The man ignored her and looked at me instead.

"You're so lucky."

"My girlfriend doesn't want me anymore."

I was still confused, but I said honestly,

"If she doesn't want you, you shouldn't want her either."

"There are plenty of women out there. No need to make things difficult for yourself."

"Yeah," his tone suddenly turned bitter.

"How could someone eating candy understand another person's bitterness?"

Seraphina suddenly became impatient and abruptly let go of his hand.

"Alec, let's go home."

After getting home, Seraphina's mood remained sour.

She leaned back on the couch, game sounds coming from her phone. The screen went dark, and she let out a soft "hmph," carelessly tossing her phone aside before lying back.

"What's wrong?"

Sensing her mood had shifted, I walked over to her.

Seraphina composed herself and burrowed into my embrace.

"Alec, don't leave me."

"I really like you."

I pulled her away from my chest, looking down at her curiously.

"Seraphina, that guy."

"Do you know him?"

Seraphina's expression became calm as she said, "No, I don't."

"He was just some drunk."

Before I could ask anything else, Seraphina kissed me, mumbling.

"Alec."

"Don't leave me."
