Chapter 6

Luna searched through the trash bin alone. Shards of broken porcelain cut into her hand, but she didn’t care.

Then, suddenly, Violet appeared in front of her, wearing that same cruel smirk. Without a word, she threw a handful of torn paper onto the ground, the shredded pieces of Luna’s ultrasound photo.

Luna immediately tried to pick them up, but Violet stepped hard on her hand. Pain shot through her fingers, yet she still didn’t fight back.

Violet leaned down with a cold smile, whispering like a devil, “You still care about that little brat, huh? Do you even know how she died?”

Luna looked up in shock. Something she had overheard before suddenly came back to her and a terrible thought came to her mind.

Violet sneered coldly and said word by word, “August twenty-third. That morning, you drank a bowl of chicken soup. Someone added a heavy dose of abortion medicine inside it.”

“Guess who did it?”

“Your loving husband, of course. Haha! I only mentioned that your pregnancy dates didn’t match and he believed me. Then he killed your baby with his own hands.”

“And that time when you weren’t feeling well? You were actually pregnant, Luna, but he paid that doctor to lie to you. Then he secretly gave you sleeping pills so the doctor could take the baby away without you even knowing.”

“How stupid of you, Luna. Morgan and I have been playing with you all along.”

Luna felt like her head was going to explode. She held her head in pain, unable to believe any of this was real.

But Violet laughed coldly. “Someone like you doesn’t deserve Morgan and you’ll never beat me. If you’re smart, you’ll leave quietly. Otherwise, you might lose that worthless little thing in your belly, too.”

After saying that, she turned and walked back inside.

Morgan had just finished calming Ian down. When he remembered that his wife was still outside, he went out to look for her.

But as soon as he opened the door, he saw her standing there, her hair messy, her eyes full of pain.

“Morgan, how did Yasmine really die?”

A flash of guilt appeared in his eyes, but he quickly hid it and answered calmly, “I told you already, your body was too weak, so the baby just couldn’t make it. Why are you bringing this up again?”

Luna’s expression didn’t change. “Swear to me. Swear that Yasmine’s death had nothing to do with you.”

Morgan frowned impatiently. “Luna, haven’t you caused enough trouble? You’re blaming your own husband for an unborn child. That’s too much.”

“Enough, go get some rest. I’m hosting a dinner to officially introduce Ian tomorrow night. Make sure you take your medicine beforehand. I don’t want any problems.”

Luna said nothing and her silence made his guilt flicker again. He patted her shoulder gently.

“Be good, Luna. Ian is our child now. Let’s live peacefully as a family, okay? No more drama. I’ll spend some time with Ian tonight. After dinner tomorrow, the three of us can go to the amusement park.”

He turned to leave, but her voice stopped him.

“Morgan, I had a miscarriage at the hospital.”

Because of the pollen in her drink, she could barely survive, but their baby couldn’t.

Her husband paused for a moment, then replied indifferently, “You can’t even tell what’s real and what’s not. You were never pregnant, Luna. How could you have a miscarriage?”

“Enough. Go to sleep. I’m spending the night with Ian. You’ll sleep alone.”

Luna watched as he walked straight to the next room, where Violet’s perfectly manicured hands pulled him inside.

At that moment, she stood there feeling numb, unable to even feel her own heartache anymore.

With trembling hands, she decisively made a call. “I’m ready. Come pick me up.”

After hanging up, she looked around the house where she had lived for years, then quietly walked out the door.
