As soon as the child saw his mother, he giggled joyfully.

I hesitated.

“I’ve decided… to pass on all of my company’s shares and assets to the child in my arms.”

Cheers erupted from the guests. Smiles, applause, congratulations.

But I sat frozen, numb. Then I quietly stood, picked up my son, and walked out.
