The lies rolled off her tongue without a hint of shame.

My grandparents pushed me from behind. I tumbled onto the bed.

I scoffed inwardly. Finally, she was getting to the point.

I asked coolly, "How should I take care of you?"

She was taken aback by my coldness. This wasn't the tearful mother-son reunion she had imagined.

"Get tested as a donor match, to see if your liver can be transplanted to your mom," one of the relatives blurted out.

"She already had us all tested."

Her tone was filled with frustration.
