Chapter 1

During my birthday party, my husband suddenly collapsed. I rushed him to the hospital, and the doctor said that he a kidney transplant immediately because one of his kidneys was damaged.

Since he had helped me during my mother's treatment in the past, I decided to give one of my kidneys to him.

My eyes slowly opened, the smell of medicine stung my nose. My whole body felt weak, but I didn't care. I had to see Dylan, my husband.

Every step was torture. The wound on my stomach was still throbbing, but I forced myself to keep moving.

However, when I arrived in front of his room, I fell silent.

"Are you okay, honey?" A woman's voice sounded seductive.

"Don't tease me, you know I'm cheating on Gisella!" Dylan replied softly.

My breath caught in my throat.

"You're great. But what if Gisella finds out that you don't actually have kidney disease?" the woman asked.

My body froze, my heart pounding. So, Dylan had been lying all along? He was healthy. His kidneys weren't even damaged.

"He won't find out, I've already bribed the doctor and some of the nurses in this hospital. I'm doing all this for our relationship anyway," he replied.

"What do you mean?" the woman asked.

"With just one kidney, she’ll become weak. Sooner or later, she won't survive. When that happens, we can live together," he said, as if my life was just a number in his foul plan.

The world seemed to collapse around me.

"You're right, Dylan. Then what did you do with the kidney?" the woman asked again.

"I sold it, isn't that more profitable?" Dylan replied.

My legs went slack. My body was shaking. Dylan was losing his mind.

"You're so smart, honey," the woman replied.

"I am, after all, just think of it as a reimbursement for when I helped with Mom's medical bills," Dylan replied.

"Didn't you tell me that you did the same for her mom?" the woman asked.

"Right, Mom's debt was paid off because of her kidney. That's proper compensation, isn't it?" Dylan replied, bringing tears to my eyes.

I covered my mouth, holding back the sobs that wanted to break out. I married Dylan for my mother's debt, not out of love. But he deceived me, even selling my mother's kidney without my knowledge.

I thought Dylan was an angel who came to save me, but he turned out to be the devil.

"I have something for you. I bought it from the proceeds of Gisella's kidney sale," Dylan continued.

The woman smiled, accepting a necklace.

"It's limited premium! There are only three in the world. Thank you, darling. I love you so much."

My chest tightened. I sat down, devastated. My kidney was sold just to buy a gift for another woman.

He wasn't my husband, he was a crazy psychopath.

I tried to stand up, trying to be strong despite my broken heart. I peeked through the crack in the door.

My knees almost gave out when I saw who it was. It was Alexa, Dylan's secretary.

My hands gripped so tightly that my nails dug into my palms as Dylan put the necklace around her neck, then whispered affectionately. "You look even more beautiful in it."

"Your flirting is never free, is it, Dylan," Alexa replied with a giggle.

"I already gave you a gift. Don't I deserve something too?" Dylan said, winking.

My stomach turned, my head felt hot as Alexa suddenly sat on his lap. Alexa's hands were wrapped around Dylan's neck. Their faces grew closer, their lips coming together.

Dylan didn't stop there. His burly hands freely explored Alexa's body.

I gripped my shirt tightly. I bit my lip until it bled. If this were the end of my love, I would not stay silent.
