The moment the thought crossed my mind, my body began to tremble.

I never saw my father before he passed. It was Dave who had been taking care of him.

By the time I rushed home for the funeral, my father had already turned into a handful of ashes.

Even when he was buried, Dave didn’t show up.

At first, I thought he was just too grief-stricken to face anyone—but now, it no longer seemed that simple.

I had to confront him face to face.

I yanked the IV needle from my arm and hailed a taxi to his office. The car drove straight into the basement of the company. As I stepped out and headed toward the elevator, I suddenly spotted a couple whispering in a corner.

The man—my brother, Dave—the same one I had lived with for 26 years.

But the woman’s face was hidden, blocked from view.

My heart dropped. Our father had just died, and here he was… flirting with someone in the parking garage?

Was this really the brother I thought I knew?

For some reason, I didn’t rush out. I ducked behind a nearby car and slowly inched closer.

Just then, the woman leaned into Dave’s arms, her voice teasing and seductive: “Mr. Spencer, did that old man leave all the shares to you?”

That voice—so familiar. But their next words completely shattered me.

“Of course,” Dave said smugly. “I was the only one with him when he died. I could take as many shares as I wanted. As for that fool Lourna… does she really believe her father died of natural causes?”

The pride in his tone was like a hammer slamming into my skull.

He was responsible for our father’s death.

But that was his biological father too! How could he be so heartless?

Tears welled up and spilled over. I wanted to rush out and scream at him, but I knew this wasn’t the right time. I stayed hidden, watching Dave and the woman locked in their filthy embrace.

Then, the woman turned slightly, and I caught a clear glimpse of her face.

I froze.

My eyes widened in disbelief.

Ana?!

Why was she here?!

Wasn’t she with that bastard Johnny? Why was she now wrapped around Dave?

Before I could process the shock, my phone buzzed with two new messages.

They were from that anonymous account again. No words—just two photos.

One was a graphic image of Dave and Ana in bed.

The other… is a wedding photo of Johnny and Ana.

My breath caught. My fingers trembled.

Then a document came in.

I tapped it open—and my world stopped.

It was my father’s autopsy report. The cause of death wasn’t a sudden heart attack at all—it was poisoning.

Since my father had fallen ill, every doctor, every prescription, had been arranged by Dave.

The only one who had the chance to poison him… was that monster—Dave!

With shaking hands, I saved every piece of evidence. Then I replied to the sender:

He didn’t answer the question, but replied:

I stared at the screen, stunned.

Who was he? Why was he helping me—again and again?

My thoughts were a tangled mess. My grip on the phone slipped, and it fell to the floor with a dull thud.
