My Husband and Mother-in-Law Drive Me Out of the House
Chapter 2
I carefully recalled all the useful information from my previous life.
This disaster would last for half a year.
During this half year, the highest temperature in the world would reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit, and even the lowest would hover at 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
At first, no one realized the seriousness of the problem.
First, there were several tens of days of high temperatures, with the highest temperature even exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
Following that, the fields became dry, and the lakes dried up.
By the time people really realized the severity of the problem, doomsday had already arrived.
I needed to store up food before doomsday truly arrived.
I opened my eyes and looked at the scorching sun outside.
I had ten days. In ten days, the end would come.
Early that day, I was about to go out as usual.
Just as I was about to leave, Rosemary called me suspiciously.
"Where are you going?"
I turned my head and looked at her. "I'm going out for a walk. It's too stuffy at home."
Rosemary frowned. "It's so hot outside. Why?"
They had no sense of worry at all, staying at home without even moving simply because of the hot weather. Of course, I wouldn't be as lazy as them.
Matt didn't even want to go to work. He took leave and lay in bed like a corpse.
I shrugged. "I have nothing to do at home anyway. What's wrong with going out for a walk?"
Rosemary opened her mouth, seeming to want to say something, but in the end, she didn't say anything.
I sneered and went out.
At this time, Rosemary and Matt were sleeping.
I walked quickly to the underground garage and loaded the supplies I had bought in advance onto the car.
Although I was pregnant, and moving stuff was a big task for me, after what I went through in my last life, I'd never trust anyone again. I only believed in myself.
Especially in the end times, people who had supplies in their hands would become a thorn in others' side.
I was practically filling up the entire underground garage.
There were various foods and daily necessities.
I wiped the sweat off my forehead and exhaled.
Ten more days and those who hurt me would get their retribution.
I took a deep breath and slowly walked upstairs.
When I got home, Rosemary and Matt were sitting on the sofa chatting.
As soon as they saw me coming back, they immediately went silent.
Pretending not to see, I went straight back to the bedroom.
I closed the door and lay down on the bed.
It was so hot outside that I couldn't breathe.
I turned my head and looked at the air conditioner next to me. I happily turned it on and instantly felt much cooler.
I slowly closed my eyes and fell asleep without realizing it.
When I woke up, it was already past 6 o'clock in the afternoon.
I got up and stretched, feeling extremely comfortable.
I opened the door and was about to go out when I suddenly heard Rosemary's voice.
"Samantha, when are you going to give birth?"
I paused and opened a crack in the door, eavesdropping on their conversation.
She had been staying here for a long time. I figured she and Matt had long had an affair.
Rosemary said Samantha was a distant relative, but I thought Samantha was the mistress she had found for Matt!
Samantha was sitting on the sofa, and Rosemary was holding her hand and chatting with her.
"I don't know. Soon, I guess."
Rosemary smiled and said, "Your belly is bulging. I think you're about to give birth. Sit tight while I fix you something good."
Samantha nodded and said, "Thank you, Rosemary."
Rosemary smiled and shook her head, "Don't mention it. The Moody family is lucky to have you."
After saying that, Rosemary went to the kitchen.
I watched all of this coldly and then silently closed the door.
I went for a prenatal check-up, and Rosemary bribed the doctor. I guessed she had been wanting to get rid of me after knowing I was having a baby girl.
Coincidentally, the doomsday was about to arrive, which gave them the opportunity to let me die naturally.
I clenched my fists.
I just had to wait seven more days. I should be patient. None of them could escape!
The temperature outside had already reached 115 degrees Fahrenheit. I turned the air conditioner on at 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but it was still so hot.
I took a few deep breaths and calmed myself down, and then I glanced at the empty living room.
"Rosemary, it's so hot. Why don't you turn the air conditioner down a little?"
Rosemary sat on the sofa, holding her phone and watching videos. She glanced at me and then lowered her head.
"It's already 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Your body is too weak, and you can't feel cold. Matt works hard to earn money. Don't waste it."
I rolled my eyes silently. What a ridiculous reason.
I walked to the kitchen, took out a chilled watermelon from the refrigerator, cut a piece, and brought it to the living room.
"Rosemary, have a piece of watermelon. I just took it out of the fridge."
Rosemary looked up at me, and her eyes showed a bit of dissatisfaction, but she still took it.
"Not bad.
"We can't go out now, so you should eat sparingly. Matt works hard, not to mention he has to work from home now. You have to accommodate him!"
I smiled and said nothing.
Of course, the watermelon tasted good. I bought it at a high price, and of course, it was nothing like what Rosemary ate.
I sat on the sofa, eating watermelon and waiting for the doorbell to ring.
In my previous life, I was pushed out of the house by Rosemary on this day and died from being sunburned. I remembered this time clearly.
I looked up at the clock. There were ten minutes left.
I took a deep breath and continued eating watermelon.
Time passed by, and finally, the doorbell rang.
Rosemary and Matt both looked at me.
"Go and open the door."
Rosemary said in a commanding tone.
I put down the watermelon and wiped my mouth. "Me?"
