My Brother’s Torture Drove Me to Death
Chapter 3
There was a huge difference between "I should die" and "I did die".
This time, I really died. I died of deep guilt for Grace.
Eva said that she seemed to have seen Grace in the suburbs.
I went there. I naively thought that if I found Grace, my relationship with Aiden would return to what it used to be.
You fool, you've entered a place you shouldn't have.
I hid in the dirty ravine and dialed Aiden's number. He picked it up after a long time.
His voice was cold and angry. "Alice, you're such a beast. How dare you hurt Eva like this.
"Die outside and never come back."
Before I could explain, my phone was taken away.
It was so cold in the cold storage.
It was so cold that even my bones hurt.
My bound limbs gradually stiffened, and I gradually stopped breathing.
The next day, the policemen brought back some body parts from an abandoned tire factory in the south of the city and handed them to Aiden.
They were very confused. "It's been four days, and we haven't had any missing people reports. It's a little strange."
Hazel said, "Either her family doesn't care about her, or she is an orphan."
"She died at such a young age. It's truly pitiful."
"If you sympathize with the deceased, you should look for clues and assist James in solving the case quickly. What's the use of sighing here."
Aiden pieced together the body parts they had found this time. It was my entire upper body.
Aiden's eyebrows furrowed hard and a trace of panic flashed across his eyes. Then, he suddenly grabbed my left hand.
There was a scar on my palm. Aiden accidentally cut my hand when we played with the fruit knife when I was a child.
I lost a lot of blood. He thought I would die, so he hugged me and cried for a long time.
I was fine, but he blamed himself and cut a deeper wound on his palm with a fruit knife.
He said that he would remember this pain and would never let me get hurt again.
My palm had been cut so badly that the scar could hardly be seen.
Aiden was very annoyed and left the dissecting room with his phone.
After considering for a while, he found my WhatsApp.
"Where are you now? Come back immediately. Don't test my patience."
He tried to send me a voice message, but he found that he'd been blacklisted.
He slammed his fist against the wall angrily.
"Well done, Alice. You've grown up. You dare blacklist me.
"I won't look for you. Don't come back."
James handed Aiden a cigarette and then exhaled the smoke from his mouth.
"Your parents passed away early. You raised Alice yourself. Once, she suffered from appendicitis and encountered a traffic jam on the way to the hospital. You carried her and ran more than ten miles to the hospital.
"A classmate bullied her. It took you three days to find the parents. If I hadn't stopped you, you would have been expelled from the police academy.
"She's your only family member now." he said. "Just let the conflict pass. Grace is dead, so cherishing the person in front of you is the most important thing. Don't do anything to make yourself regret.
"Don't be like me and my father. He died before we could be reconciled. Now I can only visit his grave."
James and Aiden were college classmates and they joined the police department together.
He had watched me grow up.
He was an orphan of martyrs. He was decisive and powerful at work, but his eyes turned red at the mention of his father.
Aiden didn't speak. James exhaled a mouthful of smoke and added, "It's normal for a little girl to have a bad temper. Maybe you misunderstood her so she is hiding somewhere sulking.
"I'll send someone to find her. You can make it clear to her face to face."
Aiden was stunned for a few seconds, and then his expression returned to normal.
"Let her do whatever she wants. I used to spoil her too much.
"The victim is still lying in the cold dissecting room, waiting for us to uphold justice for her. How can we have time to care about an idle person like Alice? It's good to let her suffer outside. Just take it as a lesson."
In the evening, Aiden went home late and locked himself in his room.
This was the room he and Grace had prepared for their marriage.
He wiped the picture frames above his bed.
Grace was very beautiful, and her beautiful eyes were extremely gentle when she smiled.
However, these beautiful eyes were terrifyingly cold when she closed the door of the cold storage.
I even suspected that I was hallucinating when I saw her that day.
Aiden held Grace's photo in his arms and said a few words. Then he put it back.
He took out his phone again and sent me a WhatsApp message, but it still showed that he was blacklisted.
He was so angry that he threw his phone on the sofa.
He rubbed his temples, suppressing the anger in his heart. When he was about to take a shower, his cell phone rang.
He glanced at the phone number and inadvertently let out a long sigh of relief. The annoyance in his tone grew stronger. "Alice, is this kind of boring game very fun?
"I'm warning you. Your tricks don't work. Come back and apologize to Eva immediately."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line. "I'm sorry, Mr. Campbell. I'm an employee of the cake shop. Some days ago, Miss Campbell ordered a cake from us and asked us to send it to you on your birthday.
"Tomorrow is your birthday. Where do you want us to send the cake?"
Aiden's voice suddenly became hoarse. He glanced at the phone number. Only the last four were the same as mine.
"Throw it away. I don't need it."
After hanging up the phone, Aiden became even more annoyed. My phone number was new, and he didn't save it.
It took him a long time to find the call records from three days ago.
He called me several times, but my phone was turned off.
He lost his patience completely. He sent me a voice message, "I'll give you one day. If you don't come back tomorrow, don't come back ever again.
"A teenage girl died. Her body is still lying on the dissecting table, waiting for us to seek justice for her. I don't have time to play with you.
"Don't ask for trouble. Don't be so selfish."
I didn't dare to get close to him. I landed gently opposite him and could clearly feel his anger.
I could no longer suppress the sadness in my heart.
Aiden, I am not playing tricks. I'm the victim you've been facing these days...
