9.4 / 10.0
When your wealthy boyfriend's arrogant mother demands you break up with her son, you expect drama—not a massive payday. But when Julie Forbes confronts me with a cold ultimatum and a check for five million dollars to walk away from Eric Forbes, I don't hesitate. Instead of crying over lost love in this addictive romance novel, I happily grab the fortune. After all, turning down five million dollars would be a true crime. Why cry over a billionaire when you can secure your own financial freedom?

My Boyfriend's Mother Forced Me to Leave Chapter 1

I never thought that the plot of the novel would happen to me.

"If you break up with my son, I will give you five million dollars."

Eric Forbes' mother Julie threw the check in front of me with an arrogant attitude.

God knew how happy I was. How could I give up such a chance?

Any hesitation would be my disrespect for money.

"Mrs. Forbes, since you said so, I will just take it."

I picked up the check on the ground, packed up, and prepared to run away.

Before leaving, I said, "Mrs. Forbes, I will leave him far away."

I breathed a sigh of relief when I left the cafe, and looking at the check in my hand felt a little unreal.

If I had known that Julie was so generous, I should have just pleased her instead of following Eric, that bastard.

When I thought of Eric, I shivered all over.

When Eric called me, I was busy packing money.

Given his personality, I knew if I didn't answer his call within a minute, he would take a flight from abroad to teach me a lesson.

As soon as I answered the phone, he spoke impatiently, "Why did it take you so much time to answer my call?

"What are you hiding from me?" he said this with his unique accent.

For a moment, my heart skipped a beat and I looked around to see if I had been discovered.

As I expected, I was not good at doing bad things. My hands were shaking with guilt.

My right hand was tightly holding my left hand, which was shaking with nervousness, to prevent myself from dropping the phone.

I pretended calm and said, "No, what can I do? I'm just lying at home."

I didn't know if Eric had noticed anything strange about me. He didn't say anything. I could only hear his light breathing on the other end of the phone.

About three minutes later, he spoke again, "Just wait for me at home."

"Okay." Suddenly, I felt relieved.

Before hanging up again, to better prepare for my escape, I tentatively asked, "When will you be back?"

"Eva, you better not be betraying me." Eric's voice got louder and more serious.

And his tone was not of questioning but of affirmation.

I panicked instantly and tensed up again.

I forgot that I always wished that he would not appear in front of me, so how could I take the initiative to ask him when he would come back?

So I hurriedly explained, "My grandma's medical bills are due soon, so I want to make more money from you."

There was no better reason than this because Eric was my financial sponsor. I made money by serving him. He knew too well how much I needed money.

But he was so moody and difficult to please, and I tried my best to please him, only then could I afford my grandma's medical expenses.

I thought, "I will no longer serve you and leave this job to anyone willing to do so."

But I only dared to think about this. If Eric knew about this, he, as a pervert, would kill me.

"Three days later." He hung up the phone with a click.

There were still three days left.

If Eric hadn't gone too far, I wouldn't have ended up like this. He was so stingy but had so many demands. If I didn't run away, he would die because of him.

I used the money to pay off my debt to the hospital and found a new nursing home for my grandmother.

Tory was a good friend of my father and he promised me that he would keep it a secret for me and would never let Eric know the whereabouts of my grandmother.

My grandmother had been ill since she suffered a major trauma a year ago. She couldn't recognize people or speak. She just lived in her world.

But it was better this way so that she wouldn't remember the pain of the past.

Before leaving, I said goodbye to my grandma, "Grandma, I'm leaving now, but I will come back to see you in the future."

I couldn't stop crying and fell on her knees.

This time my grandma seemed to understand and patted me on the back like she did when I was a child.

My grandmother once said I was her most precious and best granddaughter.

But now I couldn't take her with me.

Eric was a man who easily held grudges. I cheated him, so he would never let me off easily.
