My Alpha Rejected Me for His Rogue Mistress Novel Cover

My Alpha Rejected Me for His Rogue Mistress

At exactly 10:14 on a Tuesday night, my sacred bond shattered forever. Memphis arrived twenty minutes late to our sacred Mate Ceremony, carrying the unmistakable, cloying scent of his rogue mistress, Nellie, on his skin. This ultimate betrayal was exposed before three hundred gathered wolves, including powerful allied Alphas and Victor Hale, the Lycan King's watchful Beta. With trembling hands, I watched our divine union twist into a humiliating, public execution of my heart.

Chapter 2

The hall doors closed behind me with a sound like a judge's gavel.

I didn't hear what happened next. I was already running.

But I would learn later—from the Gamma himself, weeks after—that Memphis recovered the moment I disappeared from view. That he turned back to the three hundred wolves still seated in stunned silence and issued his Alpha command with the flat certainty of a man who believed he had just corrected a mistake.

"Elena Graham is banished as a rogue, effective immediately."

His Alpha tone rolled through the hall like a physical force. Pack members bowed their heads reflexively, the command weight pressing down on every wolf present. The mind-links snapped one by one—I felt them go even as I ran, each severed connection a small cold shock at the base of my skull. Wolves I had healed. Wolves I had negotiated treaties for. Wolves who had eaten at my table and called me Luna in private for five years.

Gone.

But three links did not break.

The Silverfang Gamma stood in the third row, his posture rigid, his wolf roaring inside his mind with a fury he could not explain and could not override. The command hit him full force—he felt the Alpha tone like a hand at his throat—but his body did not obey. His wolf refused. Not out of loyalty. Not out of choice. Out of biological impossibility.

He could not sever a bond with a bloodline his wolf recognized as superior.

Two other senior warriors flanked him, their faces ashen, their wolves equally immovable. One was a Delta who had served Silverfang for fifteen years. The other was a healer I had trained personally in wolfsbane antidote preparation. Neither of them understood what was happening. They only knew their wolves would not comply, and the refusal was involuntary and absolute.

Memphis saw them standing.

His jaw tightened. His aura flared—Alpha dominance meant to crush dissent before it could take root—but the three warriors did not drop their heads. They could not. Their wolves were no longer taking orders from him.

"Detain them," Memphis said flatly. "Immediately."

Warriors moved to flank the three dissenters. The Gamma did not resist. He allowed himself to be escorted toward the side hall, his expression unreadable, his wolf still pacing and snarling inside his mind. The Delta and the healer followed. None of them spoke.

Memphis turned back to the assembly. He wrapped his arm around Nellie's waist and pulled her close, the gesture possessive and deliberate. She leaned into him with practiced ease, her serene mask back in place, though I would learn later that her hands were shaking where no one could see them.

"The Luna ceremony will proceed," Memphis announced.

No one cheered.

The silence was deafening. Allied Alphas exchanged glances. Victor Hale—the Lycan King's Beta—remained seated in the diplomatic section, his posture unchanged, his face unreadable. But his eyes tracked Memphis with the particular attention of a man cataloging information for a report that would be filed the moment he returned to Lycan territory.

Memphis did not seem to notice.

He gestured for the ceremony to continue. The officiant stepped forward, his voice hesitant, and began the Luna vows.

I was already miles away.

---

I ran through the night in wolf form, Sable sustaining me with a strength I had never felt.

The mate-rejection sickness burned through my body in feverish waves—nausea, vertigo, the sensation of my chest being hollowed out from the inside—but Sable pushed through it with a single-minded focus that left no room for collapse. *"We do not stop,"* she snarled inside my mind. *"We do not break."*

I covered ground that should have taken three days. By the time dawn broke, I had crossed two territorial borders and entered neutral forestland that edged the Lycan King's domain. My paws ached. My lungs burned. But I was still moving.

Sable spoke to me as I ran—not with comfort but with tactical clarity.

*"The Beta recognized our scent,"* she said. *"That means the Lycan court has answers."*

I knew she was right. Victor Hale had dropped to one knee the moment my wolf emerged. He had scented royal blood before I understood what that meant. Which meant the Lycan King knew something about my bloodline that I did not.

I did not flee blindly.

I turned north.

---

I arrived at the Lycan territory border at first light, still in wolf form.

The border guards saw me coming from a quarter-mile out—a massive silver-white wolf radiating an aura that made their wolves drop their heads before I was close enough to speak. They did not challenge me. They simply stood aside, their posture deferential and uncertain, as I crossed into Lycan land and shifted back.

I stood naked and shaking in the early morning cold, my ceremonial wrap long since shredded during the run. One of the guards—a young male with kind eyes—removed his jacket and offered it without a word. I took it and pulled it around my shoulders.

"I am claiming bloodline recognition," I said quietly. "I require an audience with King Alaric."

The guards exchanged a glance. The older one—a Beta by his aura—nodded once and gestured toward the main compound. "This way."

They did not ask my name. They did not ask where I had come from. They simply escorted me through the gates as though I had every right to be there.

Which, I was beginning to understand, I did.

---

King Alaric conducted the formal blood-scent recognition in the presence of his council.

I stood in the center of the chamber—still wearing the borrowed guard jacket, still barefoot, still carrying nothing but my field notebook—as the King approached. He was tall, grave, and possessed the kind of authority that did not require demonstration. He simply existed, and the room arranged itself accordingly.

He leaned close and inhaled once, deliberate and careful.

His expression did not change.

But his hand, resting on the arm of his chair, went very still.

"Seraphina's line," he said quietly. The council members went silent. Victor Hale, standing at the King's right hand, bowed his head in confirmation.

The result was absolute.

I was the Lycan King's niece. The stolen daughter of his massacred sister. The bloodline the Gonzalez clan had tried to extinguish and failed.

But the moment that visibly broke Alaric's composure came twenty minutes later, in private.

His aide brought him my field notebook. I had handed it over during the formal recognition, thinking it might serve as evidence of the alliances I had brokered for Silverfang. Alaric opened it to the antidote formulas.

His hand stilled.

He stared at the page for a long moment, his jaw tight, his eyes scanning the neat columns and bracketed safety warnings. Then he closed the notebook carefully and set it on the table between us.

"My sister wrote like this," he said, his voice very quiet. "Exactly like this."

I looked at the notebook. Then at him.

"I never met her," I said.

"I know," Alaric replied.

He did not speak for a long moment. When he finally looked at me again, his expression was composed, but something in his eyes had shifted.

"You have been grieved for," he said simply.

And for the first time since the bond broke, I felt something other than fury.

I felt seen.
