My Alpha Murdered Our Pup Novel Cover

My Alpha Murdered Our Pup

On the Winter Solstice, at 9:47 PM, my five-year mate bond to Alpha Hudson flickered and died while I ran. Then the pack link exploded with one careless image: Hudson lounging in a stranger's golden-lit room, holding our newborn son, while the woman beside him wore the cashmere sweater I'd donated months ago. Every Ironveil wolf saw the betrayal. Now I must unravel what happened to my pup and confront the murderous mystery behind my Alpha's choice.

Chapter 3

The healer archives occupied a climate-controlled room in the pack house basement. I'd managed them for five years—organizing files, updating records, ensuring everything stayed accessible for pack medical needs. I knew the system better than anyone.

I'd never had a reason to look for this before.

I started with the year of the miscarriage. Pulled the physical files first, the ones stored in locked cabinets that required Luna-level access. My hands were steady as I flipped through folders. Birth records. Injury reports. Routine checkups.

Then I found mine.

The file was thicker than it should have been. I opened it on the table under the fluorescent lights. Flipped past the standard prenatal documentation. And stopped.

A red seal. *Restricted: Alpha-Level Access Only.*

I stared at it. The seal was dated two days after the miscarriage. I'd been in the hospital wing, bleeding and broken, while someone sealed the record of what happened to me.

I took a photo of the seal with my phone. Sent it through the encrypted channel to Caelan with no explanation.

His reply came in less than a minute. *I'll handle it.*

I closed the file. Put it back exactly where I found it. Went upstairs and made lunch for the pack like nothing had happened.

---

The unsealed file arrived at 3:17 AM.

I was awake. I'd been awake since midnight, sitting in my study with the cipher journal open and a cup of tea I hadn't touched. My phone lit up with the notification. I opened the encrypted attachment.

The healer's notation was clinical. Precise. Dated the morning after I lost the baby.

*Patient: Luna Tessa Barnes. Gestational age: 16 weeks. Cause of fetal demise: concentrated wolfsbane toxicity detected in maternal system at 847 parts per million—lethal threshold to pregnancy. Exposure pattern inconsistent with environmental contact. Administering party: per Alpha directive.*

I read it again. The words didn't change.

Below that, in smaller text, a second notation. The handwriting was shakier. Like whoever wrote it had been forced.

*Purpose (Alpha directive): suppress bloodline emergence event. Imminent indicators present in subject's wolf. Procedure completed under direct Alpha supervision.*

I set the phone face-down on the desk.

My hands were shaking. I pressed my thumb against the inside of my wrist. Held it there. Counted my breaths.

Five years.

Five years I'd blamed my body. Five years I'd carried the private shame of it, the quiet belief that something in me had failed. That I hadn't been strong enough. That my wolf's dormancy was my fault.

It wasn't.

Hudson had poisoned me. Deliberately. Methodically. He'd watched me drink the water he laced with wolfsbane. He'd stood in that hospital room while I bled and grieved and he'd known—he'd always known—that he was the one who killed our child.

To suppress my bloodline.

To keep my wolf from awakening.

Because whatever I carried inside me was threatening enough that murdering his own pup was an acceptable price.

I picked up the phone. Read the notation one more time. Then I forwarded it to Caelan with three words.

*Add this. Everything.*

His response came fast. *Understood. I'm sorry.*

I stared at those two words. The only personal feeling he'd let slip through the professional distance. I closed the channel without replying.

Then I opened my cipher journal to the Tribunal preparation section and started writing.

---

I gave myself one night.

I locked the study door. Drew the curtains. Sat on the floor with my back against the desk and let the fury come.

It was soundless. Shaking. A rage so deep it felt like my bones were cracking under the weight of it. I didn't cry. I didn't scream. I just sat there in the dark and let every suppressed year of grief and shame and self-blame detonate inside me where no one would ever see it.

By dawn, I was done.

I stood up. Washed my face. Opened the journal again and wrote for three hours straight. The wolfsbane evidence was now the centerpiece. Financial fraud was prosecutable. But this—this was irreversible. The deliberate murder of an unborn pup. The biological crippling of a Luna. Under Lycan law, there was no statute of limitations. No room for negotiation.

Hudson had signed his own death warrant the moment he handed me that glass of water.

I just had to make sure the Tribunal saw it.

---

The healer's notation raised a question I couldn't answer yet.

*Suppress bloodline emergence event.*

What bloodline?

What was in my wolf that scared Hudson enough to kill for it?

I needed his records. The ones he kept sealed. The ones no one was supposed to see.

I knew where they were. I'd been Luna of this pack for five years. I knew every locked door, every restricted room, every override code. Hudson had never bothered updating the emergency Luna access to his private vault. He didn't think I'd ever need it.

He was wrong.

I waited three days. Watched the bond-trail. Felt the pull shift south toward the coast. Hudson was at the safe house again. He'd be gone all night.

I went to his office at eleven PM. The pack house was quiet. Most wolves were asleep or out on patrol. I moved through the halls like I always did—calm, purposeful, Luna checking on something routine.

The vault was behind a false panel in the wall. I opened it with the override code. The door clicked.

Inside: financial ledgers. Territorial maps. And a sealed medical file with Hudson's name and the pack healer's original stamp.

I opened it.

The diagnosis was on the first page. Clinical. Absolute.

*Congenital lupine infertility. Subject's wolf incapable of reproduction. Condition permanent and untreatable.*

Dated twelve years ago. Before he met me. Before he claimed the Alpha title. Before everything.

Hudson's wolf was barren.

The baby Maren was nursing—the Barnes heir the entire family had been protecting—could not be his.

I photographed every page. My hands were steady. When I finished, I resealed the vault. Closed the panel. Walked out of the office with my expression unchanged.

In my study, I opened the cipher journal and added a new line under *Tribunal Evidence.*

*Hudson Barnes: barren wolf. Heir is not his. Identify biological father.*

I underlined it twice.

Then I sat back and stared at the words.

The crack at the foundation wasn't just a crack anymore.

It was a chasm. And I was going to make sure everyone saw it.
