My Alpha Humiliated Me for the Omega He Chose

For three years, she waited for the blood moon, the night her wolf would finally awaken. But at 10:14 PM, the bond snapped. Standing in ceremonial white before Ironvale's pack, her neck still warm from Damon's claim, she watched her Alpha choose another. The sealing rite became public humiliation, the mark fading as his jaw stayed unreadable. Chapter 2

The summons came on the third morning after the rejection.

I was packing what little I still considered mine—clothes that predated Damon, the leather journal with its coded back pages, a photograph of my parents I'd kept hidden in a drawer—when Victor appeared at my door. Not knocking. Just standing there with two Gammas flanking him, their expressions carefully neutral.

"Pack Tribunal," he said. "One hour. Great hall."

I looked at him through the doorway, this Beta who had run wolfsbane routes under my nose for two years while I kept his salary funded and his secrets buried. "On what grounds?"

"Deception. False claim to the Luna title." His voice was flat, rehearsed. "Helena's calling it."

Of course she was.

I set down the photograph. "And Damon?"

Victor's jaw tightened. "The Alpha has delegated authority to his mother for internal pack matters."

Which meant Damon wasn't coming. Wasn't even going to watch.

Something cold settled in my chest—not surprise, not anymore, just a clarifying numbness that made it easier to breathe.

"Fine," I said. "One hour."

Victor left. The Gammas stayed outside my door.

I finished packing slowly, methodically, because there was no point in rushing toward whatever Helena had planned. Buster pressed against my leg, whining low in his throat. I ran my fingers through his fur and felt the dead mark on my neck throb in response—phantom pain from a bond that no longer existed but hadn't finished dying yet.

"It's okay," I whispered to him. To myself. "We've survived worse."

I wasn't sure that was true. But I needed it to be.

---

The great hall was packed.

Every wolf who had watched me serve this pack for three years sat in the tiered stone benches, their faces reflecting the cold morning light filtering through the high windows. Helena stood at the center of the tribunal platform, flanked by Damon's sister—Clarissa—and three senior Gammas. A small table held a single object I couldn't quite make out from the doorway.

The Gammas escorted me to the center of the hall. No chair. I was meant to stand.

Buster tried to follow, but Victor caught his collar. My wolf-dog snarled, teeth bared, and I turned back.

"Leave him," I said quietly. "He stays with me or this doesn't happen."

Victor looked to Helena. She waved a dismissive hand.

Buster trotted to my side and sat, his body a warm solid weight against my leg. I pressed two fingers briefly to the dead mark on my neck—steadying myself—and faced the tribunal.

Helena smiled. It didn't reach her eyes.

"Cora Ashford," she began, her voice carrying through the hall with practiced authority. "You stand accused of deceiving this pack. Of falsely claiming the title of Luna when you possessed neither the wolf nor the worthiness the position demands."

Murmurs rippled through the assembled wolves. I kept my face blank.

"For three years," Helena continued, "you occupied a role you were never fit to hold. You silenced your inadequacy with clever words and borrowed resources. You manipulated my son into believing the Moon Goddess had chosen you."

Clarissa stepped forward, her expression sharp with satisfaction. "She was wolfless. Everyone knew it. She hid behind ceremony and paperwork because she couldn't shift. Couldn't lead. Couldn't be what a Luna is supposed to be."

The mark on my neck pulsed—cold, empty, accusing.

"And now," Helena said, her voice dropping into something that sounded almost gentle, "the Moon Goddess has corrected that mistake. She sent my son his true mate. A real Luna. Someone worthy."

Meadow's name hung unspoken in the air between us.

I felt the rage building again—that cold, clarifying anger that had carried me out of the rejection ceremony. But beneath it, something else stirred. A pressure at the base of my skull. A heat that didn't match the dead mark's ice.

"The tribunal's verdict," Helena announced, "is that Cora Ashford be stripped of all Luna privileges and marked as a false claimant. To ensure no other pack is deceived by her pretense."

She gestured to the table.

A Gamma lifted the object—a silver brand, glowing faintly red from the coals it had been resting in. The symbol was simple: a broken circle. The mark of a rejected, fraudulent Luna.

The hall went silent.

The Gamma advanced. I didn't move. Buster growled low, but I touched his head and he went still.

The brand came closer. I could feel the heat radiating from it, smell the acrid scent of hot metal. The Gamma's hand was steady. Professional. He'd done this before.

"Bare your arm," Helena commanded.

I looked at her. At Clarissa. At the rows of wolves who had eaten at my table, celebrated ceremonies I'd organized, benefited from resources I'd secured.

None of them looked away.

I rolled up my sleeve.

The Gamma pressed the brand to my forearm.

The pain was immediate—searing, bone-deep, the kind that makes your vision white out at the edges. My skin hissed. The smell of burning flesh filled the hall. I felt my knees start to buckle, felt the scream building in my throat—

And then the brand stopped sinking.

The pressure at the base of my skull exploded.

My eyes snapped open—and they weren't mine anymore. Gold. Molten. Blazing with something that had been caged for twenty-three years and had just torn free.

Inside my mind, a voice I had never fully heard spoke for the first time.

*Finally.*

My bones cracked. Not breaking—reshaping. My spine arched, vertebrae popping in rapid succession, and silver fur erupted along my arms in a wave that felt like fire and ice and coming home all at once. My hands twisted, claws extending, and the ceremonial dress tore at the seams as my body expanded—up, out, massive in a way that made the Gamma stumble backward, the brand slipping from his trembling hand and clattering to the stone floor.

I shifted.

Not into the small, uncertain she-wolf I'd always feared I didn't have.

Into something else entirely.

Seraphine tore free with a roar that shattered the tribunal table, sending splinters of wood across the hall. She was silver-furred, towering, twice the size of any Alpha wolf in the room. Her aura—my aura—crashed over the assembled pack like a physical wave.

Every wolf in the hall dropped.

Flat to the floor. Necks bared. Involuntary. Instinctive. Helena's face pressed against the stone, her eyes wide with incomprehension. Clarissa whimpered, her body trembling. The Gammas—warriors who had never submitted to anyone except Damon—were on their bellies, unable to lift their heads.

Seraphine turned her blazing gaze toward the doorway.

Damon stood there.

He must have heard the commotion—the roar, the crash, the sudden terrified silence. He was still in the clothes he'd worn to the rejection ceremony, his expression caught between confusion and dawning horror.

Our eyes met.

Inside him, I felt it—his wolf, whimpering, pressing against his ribcage, trying to bare its throat to something it recognized as superior. Damon's knees buckled. He caught himself on the doorframe, his face draining of color.

Seraphine held him there. Not with violence. With presence. With the simple, undeniable truth of what he had thrown away.

From somewhere on the floor, Victor's voice tore free—hoarse, disbelieving, barely a whisper.

"Lycan."

The word hung in the air.

Seraphine turned away from Damon without a sound. She padded across the hall, her massive paws silent on the stone, stepped over Helena's prone body, and walked out into the morning light.

Buster followed.

Behind us, the great hall remained frozen—every wolf still pinned by an aura they couldn't name, couldn't fight, couldn't do anything but submit to.

I didn't look back.
