My Alpha Humiliated Me for the Omega He Chose

8.1 / 10.0
For three years, she waited for the blood moon, the night her wolf would finally awaken. But at 10:14 PM, the bond snapped. Standing in ceremonial white before Ironvale's pack, her neck still warm from Damon's claim, she watched her Alpha choose another. The sealing rite became public humiliation, the mark fading as his jaw stayed unreadable. Now, with the pack's eyes on her and her future in ruins, she must face the shattered bond and the burning need for answers.

My Alpha Humiliated Me for the Omega He Chose Chapter 1

The bond broke at 10:14 PM under a blood moon I had spent three years waiting for.

I stood at the altar in ceremonial white, the mark on my neck warm and alive, my hands folded over the leather journal I'd carried to every Luna ceremony since Damon first claimed me. The clearing was packed. Ironvale wolves lined the stone circle in formal rows, their eyes reflecting firelight and expectation. This was supposed to be the night. The blood-moon rite. The permanent sealing. The moment my wolf would finally wake.

Damon faced me across the altar, his expression unreadable in the flickering glow. He wore the Alpha's ceremonial cloak, dark fur draped over his shoulders, and for a moment I let myself believe the tightness in his jaw was emotion rather than what it actually was.

"Cora Ashford," he began, and his voice carried across the clearing with that Alpha resonance that made lesser wolves drop their eyes. I lifted mine to meet his. "I stand before the Moon Goddess and the Ironvale Pack to—"

He stopped.

The pause stretched long enough that I felt the first prickle of unease at the base of my spine. His mother, Helena, stood to his right, her face carefully blank. His sister smirked from the second row. The Beta—Victor—shifted his weight and looked away.

"I, Damon Black, Alpha of the Ironvale Pack," Damon said, and the cadence was wrong, formal in a way that didn't match the ceremony we'd rehearsed, "reject you, Cora Ashford, as my mate and Luna."

The mark on my neck turned to ice.

Not cold. Ice. Like someone had pressed a frozen brand to the exact spot where his teeth had once broken skin, where the bond had lived warm and constant for three years. My knees unlocked. The journal slipped from my hands and hit the stone with a sound I felt more than heard because everything else—the fire, the pack, my own heartbeat—had gone distant and muffled.

Inside my mind, the thread I'd clung to for years, the faint presence of a wolf who had never fully spoken but had always been there, collapsed into absolute silence.

Gone.

I hit the ground. Palms first, then knees, the ceremonial dress pooling around me in white fabric that suddenly felt like a joke. The nausea came in waves—bone-deep, biological, the specific grief of a severed mate bond tearing through my chest like something with claws. I pressed two fingers to my neck. The mark was still there, raised scar tissue, but it felt dead. Empty. Like a door someone had closed in an abandoned house.

The pack stared.

Some faces held pity. Most held nothing. No one moved.

"Damon." My voice came out thin and unfamiliar. I looked up at him through the firelight, searching for something—regret, hesitation, anything that suggested this wasn't what it looked like. "What are you doing?"

He didn't answer.

Instead, he turned and extended his hand toward the crowd.

Meadow Taylor stepped forward.

She wore pale blue, soft and modest, her blonde hair braided over one shoulder. The Omega I had found half-starved in rogue territory eight months ago. The girl I had sheltered. Fed. Protected. She walked to the altar without hesitation, took Damon's hand, and stood in the space I had just vacated.

The clearing was silent except for the crackle of the fire.

Something inside me cracked open—not grief, not yet, but a cold, clarifying rage that cut through the nausea and the phantom ache of the dead bond. I stayed on my knees for three more seconds, feeling the stone beneath my palms, the weight of every wolf's stare, the specific humiliation of being replaced at my own bonding ceremony by the girl I had saved.

Then Buster broke free.

My wolf-dog tore away from the Beta holding his lead and bolted across the clearing, planting himself between me and the altar. His hackles rose in a golden ridge along his spine. He growled—low, continuous, aimed at Damon and Meadow and every wolf who had watched this happen without intervening.

I reached for him. My hand found his fur, and the contact steadied something.

"Good boy," I whispered. My voice was still too quiet, but it was mine.

I stood.

The nausea was still there. The cold mark throbbed against my neck. My wolf was silent, and I didn't know if she was dormant or dead or if the difference even mattered anymore. But I was standing.

I walked toward Damon.

The pack shifted. Buster stayed at my side, growling with every step. Damon's expression flickered—uncertainty, maybe, or the first edge of comprehension that he had miscalculated something.

I stopped in front of him and Meadow, close enough to see the new mark already forming on her neck, fresh and raw and unmistakable.

I slapped him.

Open-handed, across the face, hard enough that the sound echoed through the clearing and silenced even Buster's growling. Damon's head snapped to the side. Meadow flinched. The pack went absolutely still.

"You're right," I said quietly. "We're done."

I reached into the inner pocket of my ceremonial dress and pulled out the folded parchment I had carried to every Luna ceremony for the past year. Not because I expected this. Because I believed in being prepared for what others would never see coming.

I unfolded it slowly, deliberately, and held it up so the firelight caught the Luna Accord seal at the top.

"This," I said, loud enough for every wolf in the clearing to hear, "is a Luna Accord parchment. Ironvale Pack law, subsection forty-seven, clause nine. It states that a rejected Luna is entitled to reclaim every resource she contributed during her tenure. Every fund. Every contact. Every undisclosed asset funneled into this pack's expansion."

Damon's face drained of color.

"I funded your new training grounds," I continued, my voice steady and cold. "Your Beta's salary increase. The treaty negotiations with the northern packs. The renovations to this very altar. All of it came from connections you never asked about and resources you never questioned because you assumed they were pack assets."

I folded the parchment and tucked it back into my dress.

"They weren't. They were mine. And as of tonight, I'm reclaiming them. All of them."

Victor, the Beta, stepped forward, his expression caught between panic and calculation. "You can't—"

"I can," I said. "And I am."

I looked at Damon one last time. His jaw was tight, his fists clenched, and for the first time since he'd spoken the rejection vow, I saw genuine fear in his eyes.

"Good luck funding your pack on an Omega's devotion," I said softly.

Then I turned, called Buster to my side, and walked out of the clearing.

No one followed.

The forest swallowed the firelight behind me, and the dead mark on my neck ached with every step, but I kept walking. I had nothing except the dress on my back, the parchment in my pocket, and a wolf-dog whose loyalty had just proven more reliable than any bond the Moon Goddess ever gave me.

It was enough.

For now, it was enough.
