Chapter 2

I took a train for a day and a night to return to the place where I was born.

After asking around a bit, I found where my parents lived.

They were doing well locally and were well-known, so they weren't hard to find.

I heard from people nearby that this family had a capable little daughter who found a husband from a rich family in Capaville.

The husband was very caring toward them, so the local powerful people didn't dare to offend them.

They enjoyed a lot of convenience.

All five brothers went to school and found jobs.

The three older sisters got married early, and some of them still lived at home after getting married.

Selling their little daughter didn't impact my parents enough to change their preference for sons over daughters.

That day, my parents went out shopping, and I followed them, pretending to look around.

I couldn't help laughing when I heard their conversation.

"Where on earth has that damn girl gone? Why is she running around everywhere instead of staying with the Turner family? It wasn't easy for me to find such a good family for her."

"That's right, Yorick has come to ask several times this year."

"If I knew where that damn girl went, I'd immediately tie her up and send her back to the Turner family."

"Yes, look at how good the Turner family is. They bought us a house and a car and even helped these sons find good wives. With such good people, what more can we ask for?"

After so many years away, my parents never came to see me once.

At first, I expected them to come and see me or redeem me after making money.

But gradually, I no longer had any expectations. I guessed they had forgotten they sold their daughter.

After hiding for two years, I came to see my parents whenever I had time. I didn't expect them to remember me.

I also remembered the good days I had with the Turner family.

It seemed like I couldn't go back home.

I went back to my own home overnight.
