Losing Me is Her Lifelong Regret Chapter 1

On the scorching doomsday, my wife Lauren Michelle, who was a disaster study expert took my thermal suit and gave it to her unforgettable first love, Kevin Clark.

My trembling hand was ruthlessly knocked off the thermal suit by her.

"You won't die from a little heat, can't you understand?"

Her expression was indifferent and her tone was icy.

"Kevin was severely injured and retired due to weak physical condition, but you train every day and won't die."

I watched her briskly turn around, taking away my last hope of survival.

My eyes turned red.

She thought that I wouldn't be affected much by the scorching heat, but she didn't know.

My internal organs were already on the verge of melting when I saved Kevin last time.

After Lauren took away my thermal suit, my body quickly melted together with the glacier.

And turned into a pool of blood.

Then blended into the ice ocean and disappeared.

My soul was like being chained, can only follow Lauren's direction and leave.

She stumbled and supported Kevin all the way back to the underground base.

Kevin's face was pale on the sickbed.

Lauren's heart was gradually stirred up by Kevin's trembling eyelashes, and her palm-sized face was filled with nervousness.

This was the first time I had felt emotions other than disgust on her face.

Suddenly I remembered three months ago, I saved Kevin.

I was baked in temperatures of over a hundred degrees Celsius.

She just furrowed her brows slightly.

Kevin on the bed slowly opened her eyes at this moment, and the next second she excitedly grabbed the hand by the bed.

Kevin weakly spoke,

"How is Charles Jackson? I seem to remember that you used his thermal suit to cover me..."

Lauren's heart was completely focused on him.

She just wanted to know Kevin's condition.

At this moment, when she suddenly heard my name, a trace of disgust flashed in her eyes.

"You just woke up and don't even know your own situation. Why do you care about that Charles?"

"He trains in the base every day and is as strong as a bull. Look at yourself..."

As if remembering something, she frowned.

"He has such a physique, but he still didn't want to give you his thermal suit!"

"I really don't know how he can face himself in that police uniform! You risked your life to save people during the mission, almost sacrificed yourself, and finally managed to survive. But he still can't bear to part with that old clothes!"

"I really can't understand why I was attracted to him back then."

Listening to Lauren's words, a bitter feeling arose in my heart.

Three years ago, Kevin was still my comrade-in-arms, going on missions with another person.

But clearly with a 90% chance of success, in the end, he was the only one who came back alive.

The injuries he sustained were neither serious nor minor.

They were just enough to not affect his normal life, but he couldn't participate in the team's training.

So after the organization's research and discussion, they let him retire early.

From that moment on, he disappeared from our lives.

It was also during this time that my feelings for Lauren escalated rapidly.

After accompanying her through the dark times when Kevin left, we got married.

Until this abnormal high temperature outbreak on the mainland, the end of the world came.

Kevin reappeared.

Lauren's intercom rang, and she answered immediately.

"How about it? I was right, wasn't I? He didn't collect any of the medical supplies assigned to Charles before?"

The medical staff on the other end of the phone nodded silently.

Lauren immediately spoke forcefully.

"Okay, give all the medical supplies under his name to Kevin. I am his wife, he doesn't need them."

The nurse hesitated and refused.

"Mr. Jackson said to us before his death that his supplies must be left to the people in need."

"We have checked it. Mr. Kevin Clark's injury is not serious. The thermal insulation suit has almost isolated all the high temperature damage for him. He just suffered a little heatstroke."

"And... Mr. Jackson just lost vital signs today. He doesn't have much supplies left. Once used, there will be no more."

"Professor Michelle, please accept our condolences..."

The nurse seemed to think that if Lauren heard the news of my death, she would give up this idea.

After all, she is an expert in disaster studies.

There is hope for tens of millions of lives to survive in the base.

But after listening, she just frowned tightly.

With a disgusted tone: "Has Charles become so disgusting now? What's wrong with me using his supplies? Is he trying to deceive me? Can sun exposure kill people? Did he think I wasted twenty years studying professional courses?"
