Chapter 2

The moment I saw his message, my vision went foggy and I almost fainted.

While I was waiting for Asher here, there were passing vehicles willing to give me a ride. But given that Asher had not replied to my message, I was worried that he would be on the way. So I stubbornly waited here.

But I only received this message from him that made me desperate.

I waited there all night and my hands almost went numb with cold.

I posted on Instagram with trembling hands, wanting to know if anyone nearby could give me a ride.

But after I posted it, I accidentally saw a post from Gianna last night.

The caption said, "Trapped in a blizzard. Thank Mr. Williams for the food."

In the video, Gianna curled up, wearing Asher's suit jacket, and someone handed her a cup of water. The lunch box on the table looked very familiar, and it was the meal I prepared for Asher.

I looked at the familiar wedding ring on that hand, and my heart began to ache.

But maybe because of the cold weather or some other reason, I quickly calmed down and no longer questioned Asher hysterically like before.

I gave it a like and then quickly deleted what I just posted.

Enduring the soreness all over my body, I stood up and waved on the road.

Luckily, the rescue team passing by found me and sent me back home.

After I took a shower and lay down on the bed, Asher still hadn't come back.

My phone was there. I checked the battery and it was full. After a long day, I felt tired and quickly fell asleep.

But not long after, I was awakened by Asher's scolding.

"What's wrong with you? Where is your phone? Do you know how long I've been looking for you?"

Asher shouted angrily at the bedroom door, and I was awakened, looking confused.

"Didn't you say you were doing rescue work and wouldn't come?

I looked at Asher with a puzzled expression, not understanding why he was so angry.

Shouldn't I be the one getting angry?

Asher angrily took out his phone. "What do you mean by the post on your Instagram? Do you want my colleagues to laugh at me?"

But he scrolled down to the posts of last year and still didn't find the one he was talking about, but he saw that I liked Gianna's Instagram post.

He looked at me suspiciously, as if he didn't understand why I didn't argue with him this time.

I just rolled my eyes at him and lay down with my back to him.

Asher didn't say anything. After a while, he quietly shut the door and opened the door to the study.

I was too tired from standing in the cold all night, so I ignored him and went back to sleep.

When I woke up the next day, it was already ten o'clock.

Maybe I caught a cold, so I felt a splitting headache. But when I thought about the important meeting at noon today, I hauled myself out of bed. I packed up my stuff and went to the company.

My colleagues saw my flushed face and asked me with concern if I caught a cold yesterday. They even brought me cold medicine and fever patches.

I checked my phone and saw the chat history with Asher from last night.

I laughed at myself and was about to put down my phone and start working when I suddenly saw a pop-up message.

Asher said, "Are you still mad at me?"

Seeing this, I rolled my eyes.

He was gentle and considerate to Gianna, but he was impatient with me.

Soon he sent another message. "Why didn't you prepare lunch for me today?"

"I forgot." Anyway, even if I made it, he wouldn't eat it. Why did I bother?

Since we got married, I had been preparing lunch for him every day, just to let him have a delicious meal in his busy work.

It was the same even though we were not on speaking terms. But I didn't expect that he would use the meal I cooked to please another woman.

Later, I was busy with work, threw my phone aside, and never looked at it again.

After work, I stretched and checked my phone, and then I saw the last message Asher sent me in the morning.

"I'll pick you up tonight."
